Would anyone be opposed to some Beetle Bailey in this thread? I'll try to dig up a bunch of old strips first, so you'll get an appreciation for the change in quality over the years.

Lead off with the *real* final strip (the edit) and I'm down. Assuming you have it around.

Baldo, the right answer is “Tell the customer you’ll check the stockroom, then hang out and smoke a blunt until he goes away.” It’s like you’ve never worked retail before, geez

I also like that Gilchrist is writing PSAs to warn against barebacking.

If you do, I can start posting "Beetle Bailey Classic" once you switch to the more modern incarnation. I was planning to start posting the first couple of years of strips already, but I haven't sorted through the scans yet.

Classic Beetle Bailey had quite a few of these weird, out-of-nowhere moments of greatness. I'd love to see it here.

Comics Kingdom goes back to 1956. I think you need a subscription to go that far back though.

drat, 1956? Could you check if it looks at least somewhat complete? If it is, I think I might have to sub.

I threw down some cash for the extremely inexpensive monthly subscription, and it looks the "Vintage" section has old BB strips from 1956 to 1961. Very cool, thanks for the heads up!

Beetle Bailey is not a good comic and as you well know we only allow the highest quality comics in this thread.

Well, Tara Starr has only known Luann for a few days while I've been posting this strip for multiple years and have never noticed what hand Luann favors, so, yeah, seems pretty believable to me.

I don't think anyone was kidnapped by a trucker. Anyway, she's April Parker, disgraced former CIA agent and wife of Judge Randy Parker. Randy is Alan's son. Alan is the original protagonist who now writes books and whose wife recently left him. You may be thinking of Sophie Spencer, adopted daughter of Sam Driver and Abbey Spencer, who was kidnapped by... I think Abbey's half-sister? Something like that.

April went to jail because she'd been unknowingly participating in unauthorised actions by some rogue CIA agents, and she turned them (and herself) in when she found out. Well, eventually. Her father is an illegal weapons dealer who was dying of cancer but seems to have gotten over it.
