They're very affordable if you tax businesses and the wealthy.

Taxing businesses and the wealthy as much as i'd like would even pay for all that and leave money left over.

Meh, math doesn’t work NOW. There would need to be a lot of taxation or at least budget changes in order to appease Sanders.

And hell I agree with Sanders. College and healthcare SHOULD be free. Everywhere else is pretty much like that. The roads are nice, infrastructure is good but here, in the US, everything sucks. I live in SoCal and the roads are loving horrible. Pot holes, broken, multi lane bullshit that can’t be fixed because of funds.

gently caress that, tax more and fix the bullshit.

Just a friendly reminder that if we could manage to get our per capita health care costs to the same as most modern developed countries (Australia, UK, Germany, etc) what we currently pay in taxes for various half assed health care programs (VA, Medicare, Medicaid, Indian Health Service, etc) would need to be increased by about 10% in order to get universal health care of whatever flavor we prefer.

Basically, we already pay 165-180% of what universal health care costs per capita in other countries when you look at taxes + private spending (individual and corporate), and there is no reason (aside from entrenched political interests, and "change is hard", both of which are biggies) why we shouldn't be able to spend less on health care (though slightly more on taxes), get universal health coverage, give everyone a 5% raise, and give every corporation a bump on profits that they can spend however they wish.

Hi there, would you like to try some spicy products?

America has been almost literally killing its children through legislated lovely nutrition in schools, and any effort to even grant consumers the remotest bits of information on what they're consuming is struck down in legislative infancy, just to make sure those kids don't make informed decisions on nutrition when they grow up.

Your health care costs are not even close to their pinnacle, let alone any scenario where they could be brought down to humane levels.

lowering taxes slightly while increasing the actual taxes the government gets would be an easier pill to swallow. The honest companies and those too poor to hire lawyers for tax havens make less, big business get effectively taxed more. It practically spins itself

Better yet, conquer all tax havens and then nationalize the money, and swear that if anyone else wants to put one over on Uncle Sam, they will be getting hurt.

A lot of what Sanders wanted to do was pretty pie in the sky type stuff that would take years of incremental change to get to. It wasn't all going to happen overnight like the army of idiot college students who idolize him think it would have. In spring 2016 I tried explaining to some of the members of a group project I was in what their stupid protest vote plans would amount to using the example of the 2010 MN Governor's race. It was far too close because of idiots making protest votes. On one side you have good guy Mark Dayton, and on the other you have Tom Emmer, a repeat DUI offender who thinks it shouldn't be illegal to bully gay kids until they kill themselves. Then you had some third party candidate dumb college kids voted for because they could.

Anyway they all said that all happened when they were in middle school and thus wasn't important before going back to trading Birdie Sanders memes.

I realize that honest corporations don't exist, only those too small for tax havens to be worth the overhead cost. However, there is enough tax revenue the US is missing out on from tax havens that if you get that money you can then cut taxes slightly which forces republicans to work with you. They can't vote no on tax cuts to small businesses

Sanders lasting contribution is simply going to be getting our generation to talk about his policies. We're not going to have everything he wanted anytime soon, but our generation doesn't regard them as the boogeyman.

His other contribution will be as the boogey man both sides trot out for similar reasons. If you don't support your party a spooky Jewish man might come and have a definitive stance on income inequality, universal healthcare, and universal schooling instead of having politically convenient stances and ruin everything.

As plenty of other people pointed out, the fact that Moore picked up that 14 year old outside the court house is a huge red flag. You don't just wake up one day and say 'I'm gonna go hunt for underaged tail' and magically pull it off, in public, with the mom right there. He's had plenty of practice.
