Do any of y'all have experience with insuring your collections? My friends have been urging me to insure mine against earthquakes and/or general shelf collapse, but I have no idea how to find an insurance agent who covers stuff like this. (The renter's policy I have through my apartment building is obviously not going to be sufficient.)

Whoever does your car insurance should be able to set you up with a personal property policy, which will cover other valuables as well. Just make sure you have a good (discogs lol) catalog of your collection somewhere offsite, and pictures are always good too. If you don't have car insurance, an insurance company like State Farm does all that poo poo in a one-stop shop. And frankly you should have a better insurance policy than the one through your apartment building.

It also depends on what your collection is worth. I've known collectors that don't bother, because the cost of insurance is ridiculous.

So those Eno reissues are coming out in a single LP format and they retail for 18.99 if anyone wanted them but didn't want to shell out 35 bucks.

Does anyone know if that half speed mastered 45 rpm poo poo is really worth the extra money? I know it's supposed to have better bass response or something but I'm also assuming that the single LP releases are made from the same masters, so what's up with that poo poo?

I know it's supposed to have better bass response or something but I'm also assuming that the single LP releases are made from the same masters, so what's up with that poo poo? The idea is that a 45 RPM record will sound better because of a few things: 1. The groove will have more space to represent the sound since the record is running faster. In general, faster speeds mean you can represent the sound wave more accurately. Think of having one sheet of paper to draw something versus two. 2. You're probably putting less onto the record, which means that inner groove distortion will be less of a thing. Since you can't cut as much time on a record running at 45 RPM as you can on a record running at 33 1/3, and you're likely cutting this with audiophiles in mind, you're going to have shorter sides than usual. Of the two reasons, 2 would probably have the most chance of having a real impact, but inner groove distortion is something most modern mastering engineers try to work around anyway. Like, when I think back to the records I have with bad IGD, it's usually stuff from the 80s (10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe has terrible IGD on the first side, for exaple). Also, the single LP releases cannot be made from the same masters. Unless of course by master you mean the source for the album, which is also helpfully called the master. But the master made for the vinyl pressings would obviously be different, so you would make different EQ choices or compression choices to get these onto one LP at 33 1/3 RPMs, which can also result a different sound. But even then, it's not like the 70s, where albums could have VASTLY different sounds since it's probably being handled by the same people and they're trying to represent the master handed to them as accurately as possible.

It should improve stereo imaging as well.

I've compared a half-speed master of Metallica - Kill Em All to an original pressing of the record. It really is night and day. At least with that release and its trash metal production.

The Nxworries remix album comes out RSDBF, all of y'all talking about it being underwhelming. But for real, other than that, the list is pretty poo poo. Best Buy is doing preorders for Scum gently caress Flower Boy for around that time too, but I haven't been assed to do the research over it being the boot that's been floating around or the black press from Golf yet. Be nice to have a playable copy since I'm one of the dickbags who got the yellow press.

I would try contacting them through their Bandcamp page first, they may pay more attention to that than Twitter in terms of customer service issues. If they don't get back to you, you'll need to dispute it through Paypal.

I put an order in and it's not due for over a month, my friends is due in like January. There is a way of finding the due date in Bandcamp but it's convuluted and doesn't make sense. I think you have to go to Help page and scroll down to a specific section.

It's just 45s and whatever new poo poo I buy. Record store up here is nice, plus there was a record show a couple of weeks ago.
