I imagine if you're of the same ethnic group as them they instead tell you exactly what they think of Muslims, Jews or what have you completely without prompting like you've also consumed nothing but right-wing talkback radio all your life.

I wouldn't have realised the thirty pieces of silver thing was offensive without being told this so I guess I would optimistically hope that it was an honest mistake by someone similarly idiotic. In which case I would hope they apologise asap when they realise their screwup. But it is also likely that I'm being overly naive.

It's quite odd to see how many paranoid conspiracy types are also super anti-semitic.
They won't always be as open about it but CONSTANTLY you see conspiracy theorists start talking about "the banks", which soon leads to "the Rothschilds" and suddenly you think ah I can see who it is you really hate. I wonder why the 2 things seem to go hand-in-hand so often.

no more than in the city. in the city, people are aware they're dealing with a bigger social ecosystem so they don't express their views quite as freely as people from a small town. this is purely for their own benefit; most people don't like to argue or be challenged, so they just avoid certain topics unless they're in a private crowd where they know everybody agrees with them. in private they're just as filthy in what they say and do. however the ones who are pretending are just slapping the ineffectual concrete of civility onto the chernobyl-level radioactive wound that is social injustice and bigotry in australia anyway, and sooner or later things are going to slide

I think in terms of incredibly transparent racist stereotypes, the Gungan dialect has to take all.

I mean if the films hadn't been so immeasurably bad we might have been outraged at the strong racial undertones, but somehow GL managed to drown all that out with such a strong effort of terrible filmmaking.

Friendly reminder to check and switch your gas/electricity provider:

I moved house a few months ago and didn't think much when the agent pre-signed us up for energy and gas, etc, it seemed pretty standard. Then the bills started coming through and they were a lot. I checked and our Click Energy company were charging us at least 30% more than some other providers. I did a check using the government website and changed to Momentum - a tassie owned group that seems to well priced - just got our first bill and it's about 35% less now for the same usage.

When I changed I got an email from Click with this:

From a 6% pay on time discount to a 34% percent discount. gently caress you Click.

I had those guys. Tried switching over and they dragged their feet so they could get one last bill out of me, even after they called to confirm that I wanted to switch immmediately. Eventually sent me texts like, "Have you forgotten to pay your electricity bill?"

I was like, "No, I'm with someone else now."

lol, no - the pricks. First indicator I had that I was still within their possessive maw was a huge OVERDUE notice that blended in with my other spam mail.

The switchover has actually ended up costing me a little bit more but I consider that my Freedom From Click surcharge and am happy to pay it.

And yes I'm still getting offers from them. They're behaving like an abusive spouse, really. "I'll do better this time, baby, I promise!" Then you could have done better back then, couldn't you?

I'm with Click. When I moved to Melbourne i put together a :spergin: spreadsheet of energy prices and they were the cheapest way for me to get electricity and gas through the same supplier.

Not sure how they end up being super expensive for everyone else.

7 days to get the pay on time discount sucks though.

I'll double check to make sure they're not double charging me on the last invoice, cheers for that.
