Going back to the point that started it all, KD isn't worth recommending on the "it's fun if you're avoiding all the art and minis and rapey lore by playing it virtually" grounds anyway. But I find involved games that you can invest hours in only to have them cut short by complete random chance to be unsatisfying. The virtual TTS mod includes everything you'd get with the real game plus expansions, it's not a sanitised version. There is no 'rapey lore' in KD:M. I cannot say 100% that there isn't in the expansions because I haven't read their rulebooks, but I've looked up every specific example I've ever seen given and none of them turned out to be rapey at all, in my opinion. As far as I can tell, people just flat out lie about the game containing rape themes because they found that 'the art has genitals and breasts' doesn't repulse people enough.

My first posts on this forum were me arguing with Magic nerds who couldn't grasp that sexualisation and violence are both cool on their own, but that sexualised violence is poo poo, so lol if you think I am some pro-rape advocate. I had my address locked a week or so ago but haven't been able to wade through the comments to find out how imminent shipping might be. The basic problem with edgy adult stuff in TT games is that it's stuck in the stage of "throw some giant tits on things to make it SHOCKING". There are ways to use such imagery effectively, a la Cronenberg, but most of these designers aren't really thinking on that conceptual level- it's just genre emulation still, only this time the genre is "Cannibal Corpse album covers". Of course there's enough of this "Gonzo" crap in games right now that anything which did actually do something intelligent or genuinely provocative would probably just get lost among the millions of titmonsters. It's a wearisome trend exacerbated by this being a niche industry which runs things into the ground over a long period of time- this crap is at least a decade old by now.

That's the stage it's stuck in literature as well. Spalter Punk is dead and HG Ginger and Clive Barker thumbprint was a little too much for the niche still interested in the sub genre. When it actually hits the vogue in horror it will come back, but body horror always will tie into fears about aging, disease, and sexual effects on the body.
