I think it's pretty nice on a historical level that they give a better idea of what that samurai armour actually looked like while worn. Illustrations and photographs give invaluable historical insight on things that can be hard to find out and understand without it.

Glyptoteket in Copenhagen has been workin on reconstructing colors from the tiny fragments that are provably there (re-painting on gypsum replicas obvs) Looks alright sometimes but it's hard to tell if that is the real same color they saw back then you know

Any detail work would be totally lost in that case. You'd basically be looking at the first base coat.

Thing is, we got poo poo tons of Late Edo and Early Meiji era Samurai armor in really good condition that can be worn and still have their original color more or less. Heck, that's even true for some stuff as far back as Muromachi.
