jabby posted:True, but self-awareness was explained as a completely optional piece of code their creator wrote presumably because he wanted to play God. Without that switch set to 'on' they really were nothing but unthinking machines, which really jarred with the idea that making them conscious was 'freeing' them rather than creating a brand new organism. The main guy that is doing that is a cyborg with some serious psychological issues because of that though. The real issue with the show the dumb idea that people can be robosexual and only want to gently caress robots, and parents should just accept this.

One thing about The Blues Brothers that irrationally irritates me because I've only just now cottoned on to it is that the full name of Illinois Nazis' party is "the American Socialist White Peoples Party" or the "American Socialist White Peoples Party". How did I never get this joke before?

loving Justice League OK I already posted in the subtle thread but the score was amazingly nostalgic and awesome for me. The movie itself is whatever THOSE loving EMPTY COFFEE CUPS BANGING ON THE TABLE WHY DOES THIS STILL HAPPEN Is it like the Wilhelm Scream? Are they loving with us? You could see two secondary characters holding and stirring obviously fake empty cups and they made a hugely loud hollow sound when set down on the table. Christ it was annoying.

Everyone can kinda tell already, but the sound will just make it even more notic-" Director: "They're holding empty cups in the scene, and it had better SOUND like they're holding empty cups, god drat it!"

To be fair, I did really enjoy the idea that troubled kids would end up idealising the unfeeling but totally efficient and capable robots and start copying their behaviour. That felt very much like something that could happen, but I'd never seen it before, so that was cool.

I always hate whenever Frankie Boyle gets work in panel shows, because none of his jokes are actual jokes - there is no subversion going on, just deliberately offensive pandering to the lowest common denominator using the oldest stereotypes he can think of. He's as edgy as a wet napkin, because he only ever punches down and attacks targets that are common targets anyway.

I'm watching The Punisher on Netflix right now and something that is grating on me like nails on a chalkboard is when Frank is eating something. The sound of him literally biting down on the spoon or fork with his teeth is driving me insane. No normal person would do that, right? If it was a one off thing I can live with it but I'm only midway through the show and it probably happened like once per episode. gently caress that sound person for putting that in there.
