This is unfortunately an entirely standard haul truck/LV interaction. This is the field of view around a typical haul truck. Don't be in the grey areas because they cannot see you.

Don't you need to be up at like 50k to really see the curvature of the earth? I know these guys are idiots, but how does he expect to see anything without even getting above the surrounding mountains? I suppose the plan is "all the way up at 1800ft and all i can see are mountains. Earth is definitely flat!" jamal fucked around with this message at 05:41 on Nov 22, 2017 |

DiHK posted:Yeah I get that but how the hell does the van not see the enormous hauler? Probably stopped to wait for it to go past, which seems like the right idea, until you realise that the correct place to stop to wait for it to go past was somewhere not in the pit. If you have haul trucks on a mine site, you need to make sure you're quarantining light vehicles from every place the haul trucks can go. Otherwise, poo poo gets parked on.

Effective-Disorder posted:This thread is standing on the edge of a 'flat earth' discussion now? The mining company I used to work for was always big on making safety videos. We didn't have stuntmen or budget, so everything unsafe was filmed as 'safely' as possible right up to the moment the saw hits, the car is crushed, the guy drowns etc. The site safety manager for laughs decided that he wanted to star in one and shows him in his underwear waist deep in a dirty contaminated dam with a fishing rod and beer. Also we got to shutdown a site for a day, had a huge company wide BBQ fun day while hosting our own CAT 797 vs 'Random LVs' demolition derby. I lost a few GoPros that day. Before GoPros were a thing I still remember volunteering myself to climb a Dragline boom and strap myself to the very top and hang my video camera over the edge to film swinging over a pit. Being 'high up' turned into 'loving high up' with lateral Gforces quick. I was wobblying legs the whole way back down on see through stairs half the side of my boots.
