So many appropriate Malcolm Tucker gifs... Congrats to CIG for thoroughly owning goons by releasing a few percent more of broken game only 6 years into development.

Milky Moor posted:Exactly. And sometimes you just have rough writing. But that's usually when you write something you don't care about, and that even happens in works you're passionate about. Sometimes stuff just doesn't come together. Sometimes it's a boring transitional chapter. But that stuff reads like the prose I write in a fit of pique, when I'm just trying to get something out so I'm not staring at an empty chapter, paragraph, exchange or sequence. But it's the stuff you go back and edit so heavily that it probably comes out completely different. Ah, this reminded me of something that bothered me about Star Citizen "lore" in general - despite trying to pass it off as sci-fi, it still feels more like space fantasy. It very much seems to be a result of breaking the rule of sticking to writing about the things you know. The writing team (and Chris) don't know enough about the science part, and the result is a bit of an uncanny valley in written form. Going full space fantasy would've removed this problem for them as everything could be solved through the means of space gods, space wizards and handwavium, but as we know, it's not quite the case. However, that said, how does one gently caress up a newsroom interview script? Our mass media is saturated with this stuff, the format is well established and easily accessible, just turn on one of dozens of news channels and mindlessly ape a debate - how hard can it be? Or do they feel the need to reinvent everything? Tech and management weren't enough, and even the whole xenolinguistics were not the final fronteer, CIG needs to reinvent newsroom drama too now?

As a consequence people who dislike 3.0 truly ARE idiots, they couldn't appreciate the humour in Chris's existential catchphrase "Soon tm" which itself is a cryptic reference to CIG literature.

The funny part is that they don't even have proper Newtonian mechanics or gravity that makes any sense at all, but instead of ditching realistic physics to make a more entertaining flight model they made ships have super powerful thrusters, pathetic top speeds and noclip in atmospheres. Actually while we're here, how many of the top posters in this thread were responsible for buying into the hype in 2013 or whenever? Shame on you. You should all have to write long blog posts begging forgiveness.

It's true. I once thought that all of the physics and collisions were irredeemably broken because the underlying engine had been butchered, hacked and ruined, but then I realised that the gameworld is inside a bose-einstein condensate, the ships are constructed in real time around a point mass using first order differential invariants and the commando's nipple jets are an artistic abstraction of Kirchhoff's law of thermal emissions
