BrianBoitano posted:Has anybody ever gone mad and off-script wrecked somebody in wrestling? There have been times where one wrestler doesn't like what another is doing e.g. disrespecting older wrestlers, being unsafe, being a bad performer, and will start beating them up for real, or at least be a little stiffer with the normally fake punches. The intent is not to injure them, (that's a big no no) but to let them know they're bad at wrestling. I don't know if it the most famous, but one example that springs to mind is the time The Acolytes beat the poo poo out of Public Enemy on TV. Public Enemy were a tag team that had been around a while, but were new to WWE at the time. The story as i understand it is they were set to have a match *and lose* against The Acolytes, another tag team of two rear end kickers who had been around a lot longer, Ron Simmons and John Bradshaw. Well, right before the match, like literally moments before they were supposed to go out to the ring, Public Enemy told the Acolytes they were changing the ending of the match and were going to win. No discussion, just lose to us, okay? This was indeed very rude and made Ron and John angry. Then this happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFLuGQrC48M

William Regal is a somewhat older British wrestler who had a reputation for being a hardass. I can’t remember who the opponent was but an old Botchamania (a fan-made series highlighting in-ring mistakes and other bad decisions in the genre) featured Regal ending a dude with a couple quick, well-placed punches in reaction to the guy screwing up and breaking Regal’s nose (or at least connecting hard enough to bloody him). There was also when Floyd Mayweather was brought in while he was blowing up in the boxing scene to fight the Big Show (a 7’ massive dude) and while facing off nose-to-nose Mayweather broke Show’s nose in a strike too fast to see. He was scripted to punch mind you, but boxers aren’t exactly trained to pull their punches! Show immediately had this look that said “well, I set myself up for that one.” So maybe having good humor about getting punched by one of the top boxers in the sport at the time is bad rear end.

Show was blind with rage and would have probably done something very bad if Mayweather and crew didn't bail as soon as that poo poo happened. He knew he was gonna get hit, just not five times and with a broken nose.

If they were having an off day their Insane Fan Posse were using the full-sugar Faygo. Normally they go with diet.

For some reason The Big Show looks like a 7' Fraiser Crane in my head (I know this isn't correct) which makes this story a lot weirder.

BrianBoitano posted:Has anybody ever gone mad and off-script wrecked somebody in wrestling? Yes, in my first match ever The Necro Butcher ran in unannounced with his tag team partner and proceeded to beat on all of us. My friend Tony had his head split open from a chair shot that required 15 stitches to close. I made it out OK with only a folding chair to the skull, getting forearmed in the face and being slammed on a roller rink floor. I continued wrestling for another 4 years or so and I'll just say, sometimes poo poo goes wrong.

I'm phone posting so I can't hunt it down atm. But I have seen guys get the poo poo kicked out of them and real "shoot" fights break out in the ring and stuff. Lots of big egos. I was a 120 pound comedy act and when a 230 pound muscle head decides he's going to pick you up over his head you kind of have to play along or die.

BrianBoitano posted:Has anybody ever gone mad and off-script wrecked somebody in wrestling? I don’t remember exactly who was involved, but the Blue Meanie once got beaten for real by another wrestler or two who didn’t like him. Someone else got offended by that and had a match with the attacker later, and nailed him with a real, full force chair shot to the skull. It noticeably almost knocked him unconscious and he spent the rest of the match in a daze.

Not "Badass" in the regular sense, but maybe badass as in "that dude is bad and has an rear end" is New Jack. Who just loving stabbed a dude in a wrestling match. He was up against a new kid who was being a dick and goofing off. He asked Jack to "make him bleed" thinking, I presume, that Jack would break his nose or something. Instead New Jack takes a shiv into the ring with him and opens up the kid's belly.
