The absolute lack of any gameplay mechanics in the patch they released as a buggy pile of garbage a year behind schedule is the most compelling evidence of all that CIG has some amazing things held back. If you believe they don't, I'm going to need you to present evidence of the nonexistence of secret gameplay immediately.

You have to be a special kind of person to truly invest the kind of effort (and money) these guys have invested in a non-existent game, for whatever reason they do. And when they break they do it in unexpected ways, which is actually why Roberts should be a bit more careful about the fan-base he has carefully groomed, some of those guys could be actually dangerous.

I very much agree with all of what you've said, and this paragraph in particular.

One thing that stuck to me from FTR's video is his early comment about how Crobberts is supposed to realize the backer's dream game and not his own. I mean the guy literally believed there is no problem with that statement for 6+ years. And he still believes that that's how it should be, which is why he melts down.

I've been losing hair from bugs I've encountered so far in my 3.0 PTU experience, so I'd like to share and aggregate from others, all of the bugs we've run into, and how to avoid them.

1. After installation, you try to boot up the game and it errors out in the Amazon Lumberyard screen. It says "Couldn't find user information. CrashHandler will exit."
Problem: I believe this is because you tried to change the installation directory during download. I got this because I switched from my windows drive to my storage drive.
Solution: I had to re-download the game. It wouldn't allow me to verify the game's files, and any changes I made to "library location" failed to solve the problem.
2. Upon entering the game, and trying to play the Persistent Universe, the screen goes black, with no loading screen at all.
Problem: The game is actually loading it, there's just no loading screen. This black screen can last a VERY long time, like 20 minutes sometimes, but eventually you will get in.
Solution: There is none at this time.
3. Game crashes because your computer runs out of memory.
Solution: Don't run anything in the background of your computer. Open task manager (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) and close extraneous processes.
4. General server desync.
Problem: The SC servers are being stress tested and are failing the test. Even during the midnight hours when no one in your region is playing, there will still be desync until the developers fix the problem. This particular issue is causing SEVERAL other issues you will encounter.
5. Mobiglass won't stay open, or stay closed.
Problem: The desync is causing it (I believe) and spamming inputs, making it repeatedly open, close.
Solution: Do NOT keep smashing F1 to close the mobiglass. Just be patient and it will open eventually, or if you have to, press it 1-2 times, not 10-20. When closing the mobiglass, click the X on the top right instead of pressing F1.
6. Doors won't open, the context menu won't come up
Problem: I've encountered this several times, especially when the desync is bad. Try looking at the open-pad on the door holding F from several different angles, and if that fails try another door. Also make sure that you have armor, and an undersuit equipped because you can't go outside in a T-shirt. If that fails, you are poo poo out of luck.
7. I went to go sit down on a bench, and now I can't get up because there is no option.
Problem: You sat on the bench, now you're hosed.
Solution: You can't even kill yourself on this one (ALT + Delete). You have to go back to menu, then sit through that agonizing load-in (if there's even room for you in the server).
8. The caterpillar ramp didn't drop all the way down because I was standing under it, it booped of my head then stayed there.
Solution: Make sure you aren't standing under any dropping ramps on any ships, otherwise you can't use that entrance anymore.
9. I took too long to get in my ship that I spawned at Port Olisar and the station spawned another ship INSIDE of mine.
Solution: Run, run far away as quickly as you can. It looks funny, but walking up to observe this catastrophe will crash your game.
10. Quantum travel won't work!?
Solution: You have to have a destination selected via the starmap on the mobiglass, then there can't be any obstructions, and you need to be looking at it, at time of which you must press or hold B. If there is an obstruction while trying to quantum travel at your destination, it will unset your destination, and the target will disappear from your view (like, the blue diamond that has the station, planet, moon name.
11. I started climbing a ladder and now I'm stuck.
Problem: You'll get onto the ladder then it'll be impossible to get off. Well, you can but the game will like yank you back onto it.
Solution: After getting to the top or bottom of a ladder, stop giving input. Your character might stand still and you'll be freed from the clutches of the ladder. If not, try giving no input for just a little bit, then spamming movement keys.
Help
We've all been getting our butts kicked, please upboat this thread, and post any bugs that you've encountered so we can avoid also falling into the traps. If you haven't already, then make sure to report them on the RSI website as this is the entire purpose of the game at this stage.

That would fit perfectly on this glide path to the worst game ever, should it ever be released. SC should be the most tedious, monotonous, unapproachable game ever created. Keybinds need to be created for every muscle in your character's model, with a modifier to contract or expand. No holding W to walk.

I'm playing that FailureToReport guy's Twitch streams from last night on my second monitor while doing some work (They're around 7 hours). I can see why he's so loving pissed in that video. This stream is a nightmare.

In this portion of the stream, he continued with still being held hostage for 5 minutes by the new nemesis, the ladder. Then he and a friend managed to meet up at Olisar, after the friend getting killed the first time by the landing pad. This is where I noticed the stars are twinkling like strobe lights. Then they went to Daymar, and spent 30 minutes flying in atmosphere trying to reach a mining colony, when all of sudden the ship just fell out of the sky and started skipping across the ground. They ran out of fuel, and had no idea because there's too much glare and too little contrast to read any of the displays.

And they want to add holding people prisoner if they get captured by bounty hunters, or other time delay mechanics? What loving psycho would continue playing this game after the first time they get 45 minutes into a mission, then get jacked out of it and hit with some hour(s) long punishment?

Just as they imagine their glorious, perfectly princely game will be unveiled just one version after the next they all share a similar delusion.

That delusion is whatever vicious mechanics won't apply to them, the princes of the cult, who will be able to glide through the verse and inflict those punishments on the scummy 'criminals'. Seriously dude, if you can imagine you're going to squeeze fun out of this fecal fire at the jpeg factory, you can imagine that too.

Plus you know, a paid pvp slider that protects you from having a bounty or something.

These guys are ready to give up after just running out of fuel. What happens with the search and rescue mechanic when you have to stand around and kick rocks for 2 hours waiting for rescue? The injury mechanic when you need to wait for medical treatment? The prisoner mechanic when you need to sit around in custody? The long travel times when your lengthy mission, that you're hours into, needs to be started over? The time delay for ship insurance when you need to wait 90 minutes for your next ship?

Not even the most rabid supporter is going to be okay with any of that, the first time it happens to them. It's the anti-game.

Now they're realizing that with persistence they'd just be stuck there. "This is loving bullshit."

I watched the entire video. He made some great points, but the problem with FTR is his bipolar behavior. He's done, done, done with SC... until he's not -- and then we're back to a lovefest all over agin.

It's funny in part because as a backer, he's 4 years late in figuring out that Chris Roberts is a liar and acting like this is a revelation. Not that I disagree with most of his points at all but his gimmick voice is really painful to listen to.
