Keeping with the original and having real, physical ships with real, physical ropes and sails and goats, gives the thing such wonderful character and realism, so fitting for the books. Its hard to imagine though because the books are so male-centric. There's few or no women aboard warships most of the time, and while realistic, I don't know if that could survive in the current political climate.
