As good as American Truck Simulator is it just seems like Euro Truck Sim 2 is way more interesting. Far more beautiful geography, far more intresting roads, systems, and all that.

But ATS is newer... except ETS2 is still getting new content... I'm so drat torn.

gently caress what a finish to the V8s!

Scott McLaughlin only had to finish 11th for the title, started on pole.

hosed up speeding in pit lane and other various retard moves, dropped to 23rd.

Up to 13TH with 10 left, made the pass for 11th with 2 to go, then got a post race penalty for putting Lowndes into the wall defending his position on the last lap.

I appreciate all the effort to Arduino the poo poo out of all the controls to make them work in game, but why a dashboard from like an old Volkswagen if it's only going to be used for truck sims? I presume either it was already on hand or easy to get ahold of, but it couldn't be too much harder or more expensive to get a dash from an old junked 18 wheeler and do the same thing.

There are videos out there of people who have done just that, with working splitters and range selectors on their gear levers and everything. If I had the budget, space and time, I would build something like that, with the pedals all rigged with load cells and piezos, a servo motor bolted to the steering column to simulate power steering and road effects, and 4 actuator D-Box at each corner of the platform because both ETS2 and ATS support D-Box.

I recommend ETS2 with DLC. The DLC content is on par with ATS.

Not to mention the mods scene for Euro is much more mature. ProMods is an incredibly polished overhaul/expansion that seems to be updated very soon after SCS updates the base game.

Buying a truck would probably be cheaper in the end.

Only reason a Brit won it I suspect is because none of the actual best sim racers - the Finns, bothered to turn up.

Also nice AV.

Almost certainly, but I don't have to get a Class 1 license with airbrake endorsement to drive make-believe trucks. I already have a career.

Real life chemical Tanker Lorry drivers make an absolute fortune. Easy £60k in the UK and $100k+ in America where they don’t have those silly rules about sleep. (My sister owned a burger van in a lay-by for 10 years)

I like the rules about them having to sleep. Means there's less chance a sleep-deprived lorryist will end me.

I’ve heard ALL the rants. The main issues with the sleep rules in the UK is that a lot of lay-bys have turned into free car parks, and HGV drivers are getting in the poo poo because they pull up when and where they are supposed to and then find them full. I’ve lost count of the amount of time I’ve seen a lorry driven in anger going through our lay-by taking out wing mirrors and fiat 500s.

I don't really have any issue with lorry drivers; in a past life of road warrioring they were always the best motorists I'd come across purely because they were professional drivers and respected the rules of the road. I just don't think it's right that people can be forced to drive for ridiculous periods of time to keep up with mad schedules, especially if doing so can demonstrably reduce their focus and concentration when they're hauling an 18 wheeler.

I told you, my sister owned a burger van in a lay-by for 10 years. :) (Theophany has seen pictures of it as it happens) It’s currently shut up because a drunk van driver slammed into it and Legal Stuff is happening. The whole HGV conversation this thread is very odd to me.
