It's really saying something if Eberle feels more comfortable with the NY media over Edmonton's. I know hockey is definitely bottom of the barrel here but we have our own cast of characters covering the teams.

But it’s the islanders media, the pressure has to be pretty much non existent.

Newsday/Daily News/Post cover the islanders. I'd say newsday more than the others. It's just weird to hear someone not saying the NY media is the worst because it generally is. I cringe every time I read Larry Brooks for Rangers stuff.

Also, Lehtera and Weisse for Leier and Weal? Fire Hakstol.

Right, but when was the last time you saw a hit piece on an Islander player from those papers? Or that those papers even put the Isles news on the back page? Its usually tucked in 4 pages deep on at best a 1/2 page blurb. The Knicks woes, Ranges Woes, Giants woes, Jets Woes, Mets woes pretty much always take precedence.

Newsday rarely does back cover but they don't bury the islanders coverage. Then again it's Zipay who's a humongous moron so maybe he's too dumb to write a hit piece.

He was a 4th liner grinder in Vancouver, got on a hot streak in Montreal and pretended to be a scoring winger. He's merely falling back to where he's supposed to be.

hifi
Jul 25, 2012

yeah, he's still a good looking prospect. his comparison has been joe thornton who sucked or didn't get a chance or whatever you want to call it his first year in the nhl, and strome wasn't good enough to go straight from the ohl into the nhl so he got to simmer a while longer when he really needed to be challenged. i think his floor is maybe vermette-ish

AMac is back. Irony of the season will be that somehow he will be the glue that causes the Flyers to win hockey games.

I gotta be honest, I really don't hate AMac nearly as much as the rest of FAS seems to. I don't like his deal at all but that's far from his fault.

AMac is one of those players the management and coaches love, fans hate, but in reality he's above average at best and slightly below at worst (read: nothing special either way). See also: Emelin, who seems to be enjoying new life in Nashville.

AMac would be fine if not for his deal and if not for Hakstol playing him #1 minutes. Although, this year with how many rookie Defensemen there are, I guess I can understand.

But yeah, holy poo poo, Hakstol loves grit players and it is infuriating.

And watching Schenn now do well for the Blues is both great for me since they're now my home team, but also I just cry a little every time.
