That seems like a pretty good deal considering the cases are probably $1800 and I know the nav 6 is $999.

Piddling on my shoe is NOT very customer service-y. Last guy that did it to me, the first time, I just said, "OK, maybe this is a one-time thing," but the second time, I knew I deserved better.

I hope that's the case and it's not age/health problems. You don't see too many middle-aged dudes with a late model RT and GS in the garage at the same time, usually older retired guys

A MIRACLE posted:What kind of stuff is there to look out for with a high mileage bike like that? I've never had one over 15k mi. Is it running, are there signs that the carbs need to be cleaned? Are the brake rotors and pads in spec? Any play in the wheels, possibly bad wheel bearings? Any play in the levers and other controls, as an example is the clutch cable all stretched to hell? Do they have the maintenance schedule and or documentation? The Bandit engine is way under stressed, the motor itself will be tough enough unless the PO ran it out of oil a few times. It's all of the ancillary bits. Be aware that the bandit is a heavy beast and while God's own torque can hide that quite well, it'll never keep up with a dedicated sport bike. It's a great sports tourer/commuter and will plod along for as many miles as you wish to put in the saddle, but it's also dead boring. If you want to go nuts take a look at Dale Walker's holeshot website. Getting the carbs in and out of those bikes are a right pain in the rear end, and with as old as they are now, unless you have a shop that will specifically service "old" bikes, you're stuck doing all the service yourself. For a little over twice that bike you can usually find the newer 2007-201? fuel injected Bandit 1250s. Slightly "touched" example with ABS for 3K: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/mcy/d/2008-suzuki-bandit-1250-abs/6388105327.html

A MIRACLE posted:What kind of stuff is there to look out for with a high mileage bike like that? I've never had one over 15k mi. At that age, anything is a craps shoot. But for that price it might be a good gamble. It's a safe bet that if all of the maintenance items are in good shape, then it's a good bike. Chain, tires, brakes, air filter, fork seals etc... Some bikes are better than others about longevity obviously.

it's a Rockster, just like it says. BMW was making some loving ugly bikes in the early 2000s (R1200CL anybody?) Pretty sure this was the same time period when Bangle was raping the design of their cars too

there's basically no way for you to tell if the extensive mods he's done to it were done well/correctly unless a reputable shop did it. it's a pretty good price if it's in good running condition though. but i wouldn't expect a new rider to know how to tell if a bike is running excessively rich/lean etc

434 is 94mm dia which is fine. it'll be as reliable as stock unless he's done some weird fuckery. if it starts cold/hot and it's full of oil/doesn't pump it out of the exhaust it's p much fine. It looks like a commuter which is good...
