Ok I added these two to The Tracker as I promised to add them 300 pages ago:

Customizable NPC crew - 9/27/2013
"The difference between a Game Character slot converted into a NPC crew member and a regular NPC crew member is that you can customize the Game Character NPC’s look, name and backstory."
Asset inheritance - 2/5/2013
"There is an additional bonus of being able to specify one of your Game Character NPC crewmembers as your successor in the event of your main characters death (See Death of a Spaceman), at which point the Game Character NPC will become playable again, with the assets of your deceased old character conveying."

Skimmed through the list and marked some 3.0 stuff as complete/in alpha/broken. As always I was plenty generous; for example nobody would call loading a couple boxes in on a ship for a preset mission "Cargo Transport" but I marked it as 'in alpha' anyways.
I believe this to be accurate, not 100% sure about Day and night cycles though.

One of my favorite moments streaming the game for goons was when I kept running into a group of three guys in superhornets blockading Port Kareah or whatever the gently caress the only interesting place in the PU is right now. It was so beautifully simple: an aspect of the game funneled me and anyone else caught in it to one place, and so these guys parked there and immediately blew up anybody that showed up.

Now, as any good Citizen will tell you my Aurora should be just as capable in the hands of an expert pilot as a Super Hornet is in the hands of a mediocre pilot, but after the third time I got blown up immediately on exiting QT, I kind of started to wonder if that might not be the case lol. It was brilliant on the part of those guys though - there was no fun in the game so they made their own, and CIG made it so incredibly easy for them. They might as well have been clubbing seals, and I can't loving blame them for it, because it's exactly what I would have done in their shoes too.

That's part of the reason why Star Marine is my favorite thing to show people who don't know about SC. Here you have this "incredibly tactical" first person shooter that was billed as being like ARMA and "More lethal than COD" and you go "okay yeah, TTK is gonna be super quick" but then wait a second, here's a 10-page design document detailing how death is going to be permanent and you're going to have to roll a new character to inherit all your poo poo. Something's not jiving here, but maybe the shooter isn't as bad as you thought. So you go play a round and people are dropping like flies. You don't even have to aim really, you just hose someone down and they die almost instantly. So you think "Okay, well... there must be some way to mitigate this, maybe move super tactically like ARMA or maybe there's some kind of gadgets or abilities to help you survive like Titanfall or something." Nope, haha, go gently caress yourself. The movement is horribly clunky and there's no 'sneaking' anywhere because of the poo poo level design, and if you thought gadgets were here well actually no because see that was the Illfonic build and it wasn't up to Chris's standards so now gadgets are coming in 20XX. Just... none of this poo poo works together even the tiniest bit, and it's amazing in how complex the stupidity of it all really is, especially when you see people defending it all by handwaving their own inability to cope with it away by being like "Oh well I'll always have an escort," or "I'm only going to stay in high-sec zones," or "I'm just that good" like FTR said.

This shouldn't be overlooked. This is, in a nutshell, what happens when crobbler is in charge of a game's development. This is why it took 3 years after Microsoft took over Digital Anvil to release Freelancer.

This is a snapshot of what's in his brain. He had to literally have told someone to track argon levels.

The backers want cargo, trading, bounty hunting, exploration, farming, repair scaffolds. They want research and design on weapons, power plants, and various ship subsystems, countless other things. Argon is being tracked.

Codezombie posted:

I began to lose faith in SC the first time I loaded the hanger module (back when that was all there was) and it was a janky mess for a walk around a ship based on Cry Engine. That set off alarm bells.
I think that was the first time I was disappointed in SC. Back in 2014 and in another forum people kept hyping the game up as it was already a game minus a few features and definitely something to be released by end of that year. So I pledge, download and load the thing up and that mess was so half-assed, clunky and lazy all around (not to mention pointless). I stopped playing, uninstalled, and decided to find out a bit more about this project.

Then I forgot about it for a few months (or a year?), until the refund scandal and that Kotaku article about the nightmare that SC development was.

And the final straw was GamesCom 2016 about the soon-to-come 3.0, which to me looked obviously fake gameplay in most parts and people kept defending it.
That and:
- The whole attitude of "lol we missed out set target dates, but we have a fix. No more estimates in the future". Because that's professionalism right there.
- And then of course they realize they need more money, so they make new "schedules" anyway.
- SQ42 in which I was the most invested in, turned out to be a trilogy (!) with a prelude (!) each chapter having the size of AAA games. From a company that has released NOTHING. And there's zero confidence that even the prelude will be received positively.
- And all they've showed of SQ42 is some crappy footage (now about 3 years old), and then canceled relevant demos from every major event for the last 2 years.

And most of that was before I even started following up with the relevant threads here on SA and found out how deep the loving rabbit hole goes and still keeps on going.

I also realize now why SQ42 is not coming out anytime soon. Yes, it's probably Crobblers obsession with the motion capture and fidelity, but most importantly as a standalone single player game it HAS TO eventually have a proper release. It can't adhere to their ingenious model of "well the game is already out and people are playing it, and we are improving it as we go." That poo poo can't stick with SQ42.

“The Doll” - Crowdfunded web series, with Sandi Gardiner putting in an extremely delicate and nuanced performance as Sunny Maaraw. STATUS: Abandoned?

“The Eighth House” - Independent feature starring Sandi as Mathilda, a psychic prone to exaggerated reactions of diabolical evil. STATUS: Foreclosed.

“American Satan” - Independent feature with Sandi as the conservative religious mother of a boy who joins a band that rocks for The Devil. STATUS: Role exorcised from final cut, allowing the film to see theatrical release (which Chris & Sandi apparently despite her excision.)

And that’s just scratching the surface. We still don’t even know what part called for the constant tattoos, unless she got that feral viper gig she was talking about on RTV years ago. It too perhaps was shot then cursed then binned...

I guess The Curse occasionally faltered, like when she got a word in as a focus group member on Hulu’s “The Mentor”. But for the most part, everything she appears in gets blackholed or removes her so it can escape The Curse.

Will Squadron somehow break this dark magic that prevents her and Chris’s entire “let’s move HQ to Hollywood and backdoor our way into the industry we both really prefer to making stupid game?” Those Germans better bring some Istari-level wizardry to the occasion or I fear they shall not break the spell...

Blood loss is in, in the sense that if you get shot it starts a timer and if you don't heal fully with one of the little injection healthpack thingies you'll eventually just keel over. Same as how it works if you take even the slightest damage in the PU, like when you bounce too hard and hurt your legs. One of my streams I couldn't get the landing from "EVA" to "walking on the landing pad" right and would hurt my legs and I had exactly the amount of time it took to get in my ship's spacechair before I died. It happened probably a dozen times because I was laughing so hard at the idea of dying from falling a couple feet in a zero-g environment I couldn't convince myself to stop doing it.

I don't think we got the layout until later, in a Jump Point or something. Not that it mattered, because that ended up being nothing like the final internal layout anyway. What I don't get with the cultists is they preach fidelity graphics etc etc but the movement of every person and ship I've seen is so janky and weird. It's the opposite of fidelity and is so unrealistic. Makes you not want to play. LIke how do they not see that? Overwatch characters move way way better by comparison.

Man, even every shot of the planet I've seen looks like poo poo. Star Citizen honestly looks like little more than a Steam Greenlight asset flip thrown together with 40% more care than most.
