Guinness posted:So many wheels on new cars today are terrible. I had a 2000 911 with the turbo twist wheels and the day I realized they were "directional" like that I just felt so defeated. I was a kid with his first real job getting his first real car and... just gently caress.

Sorry, it's like the Fedex arrow. Once you see it you can't stop unseeing it, and it's loving everywhere these days. It's an awful trend. The worst part is on that GTI those wheels would be perfectly good looking if they were exactly the same minus the stupid directional flanges where the spoke meets the rim. A good straight 5-spoke alloy has never looked awful.

Ferrari spending time worrying about aesthetics like that is why their cars still catch on fire. It's worth it.

The Subaru SVX has directional wheels that are handed so you avoid this kind of bullshit. I don't know any other examples of proper directional wheels. My Veloster does have the "directional" wheels but they're not too bad when backwards

My goddamned 1988 Oldsmobile had directional wheels, that were different ewchy side. If 80"s GM can do it, it obviously can't be that difficult

Yeah, my 1997 ford falcon EL had tickford wheels from a higher spec XR model. For a while (without thinking), I assumed they were directional and I couldn't rotate left to right. Then I realised all four are the same. Fitted like that I think they're dumber than I am Fo3 fucked around with this message at 04:07 on Nov 29, 2017 |

Just drive the exact same roads every day so you can map out the risky spots mentally and can spot potholes as they develop.
