There's another Japanese omelette thing in a video that's making the rounds on Facebook. It literally looks like a wound filled with pus leaking all over rice and the video commentary keeps drumming it up as "yummy" and "perfection". I think it's by the same people who made this video. I'm sure it probably tastes awesome but the presentation...

twoday posted:I made a bunch of kimchi. Uh oh. Your post just reminded me that I think I have kimchi, purchased at an Asian supermarket back in the early summer, still in the fridge. I have had good luck in the past eating kimchi that's more than a year old (as long as it's refrigerated). I do know that the smell will clear out the house. Also, how long does miso last? I've had a half a bag of that stuff for as least as long. I figure with the sheer amount of salt, it should last a decade or more. BTW, this stuff is in my "garage fridge", so it's sort of out of sight, out of mind, I guess. Right. I'm going to go see if it's there, and try it. Will post pix.

Poops Mcgoots posted:That presentation is actually rad and it just looks like runny scrambled eggs. Yeah the only reason it's weird is because it's cooked on the outside instead of just the bottom. It's just normal eggs but they go all over your rice instead of being on the side. Omurice is good.

In a stunning twist, you've found a really sad*/weird thing I've somehow avoided by living in the (non-Minnesota) midwest. Congratulations. *Unless you used garlic bread. Then it'd probably be okay if messy to eat. Still weird because why wouldn't you just eat the damned spaghetti with the garlic bread as a side, but you do you.

Old kimchi and miso are both fine to eat if you don't see any mold. Goon with too much kimchi, make kimchi jigae and freeze a bunch.

Learn something new every day! Chow mein SANDWICH The sandwiches are served "strained" or "unstrained," referring to whether or not the sandwich has vegetables. "Strained" means that it is served without vegetables. Just like plated chow mein without the bun, the sandwich may also include meats or seafood, usually chicken, beef, or shrimp. The Oriental Chow Mein Noodle Company of Fall River is the regional source for the sandwich's distinctive crispy noodles.

The Woman's Weekly Birthday Cake book is pretty much what every Australian kid had for their birthday from the 80's to 90's. Certain cakes had major cred. Like the robot for his hundreds of thousands shoes and the train for the fact it often carried lollies in the cars. I recall backup cakes on hand as kids would be so wowed by the result that the cake dare not get cut into. Constructing them is a real poo poo. Structurally most are somewhat simple, it's the icing and exacting decorating that will kill you as you hunt down stuff to substitute things that don't exist in the confectionery isle much these days. They seem to get more fiendish to construct as the ages go up. Some of the detailing instructions are amazing; like the cricket pitch that state "paint the wickets in red nail polish". Protip: if you are ever making Humpty Dumpty use a Pavlova Magic container that's been iced as the base for the guy. I had friends who recall enjoying cutting off the legs of that doll in a dress cake. "It's why we like our girls legless mum". One that was memorable was the castle . One party had this expanded out to six turrets. The dog found it's way into the dining room and converted the six to four, taking out candles and a happy birthday sign. The damage was sliced off and iced back together amidst cries of "dog slobber!". BogDew has a new favorite as of 12:12 on Nov 29, 2017 |
