I like how this sums up how miserable and dystopian the Christmas season feels to me. Sure, it's all bright lights and spice-flavored things, but underneath there's a forced cheer that masks a kind of desperation. There's the massive amounts of money to buy social acceptance and the love of your terrible children. And the helplessness in the face of endless Christmas music. I would run screaming down that hallway in a heartbeat.

as much as i dislike this administration, bare branches bathed in white, with one, lone shining Evergreen pretty much sums up Christmas memories for me -- so given where she is from this seems completely normal.

That kinda makes sense except they are lit from below which makes them look unnatural especially when the white "snow" should be on top. And since they're in the same room your brain tells you they should be lit with the same color and there's something wrong if they aren't.
