yeah or much easier, just have a dice roll on mission start that either returns the xcom wins or xcom loses console command e; have the dice roll chance be based on mission difficulty

The board game has you roll a dice for combat. If you roll lower than a single sectoid you lose and squad wipe

So, I should make this mod is what I'm hearing? Semi-related, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is free on Humble right now. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/the-bureau-xcom-declassified I've never played it, but you can't really beat free, I guess.

Honestly I feel like I at some point did hear of a mod ages ago that could do some kind of "battle simulation" that like averaged health vs damage and etc and skipped missions but I could be mis-remembering.

On one hand, the tactical layer is the meat of the game. On the other hand, I have to admit that while you're doing the strategy thing, missions do interrupt the things you really want to do like do research, build items or rooms, and train your guys. "Please no mission right now" is something every xcom player is thinking several times during each campaign.

Can somebody explain what happened here with the Advent Lancer? https://exar.ch/files/xcom.mp4 The first time he did this, the soldier he shot at died, so I savescummed and I'm not sure if this is a bug or a weird game rule that I don't know about.

Can someone give me a quick idea of what's in this expansion that is worth $30-$40? Is it just a few new missions and enemies? That price tag is bizarre, but I love XCOM so I'm willing to consider it.

Basebf555 posted:Can someone give me a quick idea of what's in this expansion that is worth $30-$40? Is it just a few new missions and enemies? That price tag is bizarre, but I love XCOM so I'm willing to consider it. The Chosen are powerful reoccurring enemies who have lots of health and a variety of ways to ruin your day. They also are active in the geoscape (can sabotage you or activate dark event-like activities) and just generally have a lot of commentary on what's going on. Taking one of them out permanently requires a lot of buildup and they can get stronger over time to make things worse. As well as that there are also a new class of enemies called the lost, basically zombies who swarm you and only appear in abandoned cities, they are a separate faction and will attack the aliens as well as you. They also have a headshot mechanic where consecutive kills on them will grant soldiers more actions so you take down like 20 of them in each turn if things work out. There are also a few new regular enemies, Advent Purifiers (flamethrowers), Advent Priest (psychics) and Spectres (dangerous robotic foes). In addition to enemies there are also three new resistance factions that you can appeal to to unlock powerful bonuses and new troops, one for each faction who are their own unique classes with very powerful abilities. The factions add a lot of flavor imo with lots of dialogue and some cool missions and the new troops are great with some very unique attributes. Interacting with the factions involves you sending soldiers and resources out on covert missions for extra benefits, and sometimes those missions can go south. There's lots of other little things too, soldiers can bond with each other for various bonuses, researchers can get 'inspired' and give you extra benefits or time sensitive research bonuses. There are tons of new map types and mission types, including variations on the typical terror missions, there are 'sitreps', which are like extra mutators on certain missions that do things like force a lot more explosive objects to be present in the AO, soldiers can gain negative attributes if they've been through the wringer (a lot like Darkest Dungeon), you can mess around with soldier's abilities with action points that let you give them some otherwise unobtainable abilities, you can customise your soldiers more and even take propaganda photos of them, there's generally tons of extra incidental dialogue and world-building stuff and a challenge mode, though I never play it. So it's pretty extensive, more so than Enemy Within imo. khwarezm fucked around with this message at 22:50 on Dec 1, 2017 |

War of the Chosen feels more like the old expansion packs, like Tribunal to Morrowind, or Yuri's Revenge to Red Alert 2. It adds a TON of awesome stuff and is genuinely worth the price.

peak debt posted:Can somebody explain what happened here with the Advent Lancer? Haha that great bug! It's been in since forever. Basically, being on fire disables a bunch of actions, including melee attacks. So for the lancer, he queues up a yellow-move slash much as rangers do, but en route he catches on fire on the bus. So upon arrival, his order is cancelled, and the game quite generously refunds his two actions. Which he then uses to move and shoot. It's reproducible with flame grenades creating hazard zones for him to run through, if you want to get your guys murdered that is. Most melee guys don't have this bug, as they don't get move-slash like rangers, but rather a melee-as-an-adjacent-action.

I think it works the other way around. Since LW2 was built on the whole different exe of Xcom 2 vanilla, you'd have to reimport LW2 into War of the Chosen. Otherwise, it's kinda...I think the lawyers would say you'd be getting Chosen content without buying the pack. I'm sure someone crazy is trying to marry LW2 to WoTC, though.

Hi all, i got the War of the Chosen expansion and I'm playing around. I wanted to test out some steaming stuff but my friends are asleep. I used to love streaming xcom 2 when it came out, so I'm inviting anyone with a stomach for it to help me torubleshoot it. It will only be xcom 2, all settings are on their hardest except ironman is off. Feel free to join in, tell me how awful it is, and I am. I really just need help getting the stream to operate as smooth as possible given the limited capabilities of my hardware and my bandwidth. To that end, tips are appreciated as i am using OBS and it's been much harder to make run smoothly than steam's built in streaming app. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuXqos0m79Q Feel free to shitpost. in chat or whatever. or not click at all. I wouldn't ask if i could find other lab rats so try not to hate me too much for soliciting a stream here.

The guy who was helping me truobleshoot and watch peaced out finally so i took it down. I could really use some tips for doing this as I rather enjoy playing, streaming, and interacting with people. But OBS is rather a pain in the rear end. I really just wish i could feed Steam a key and have youtube pull from that. edit: trying twitch now: https://www.twitch.tv/iptick while it's up, which may not be long, i'm doing what i can to make it not run like rear end but it may not be feasible. those that see it, i would appreciate feedback, either here or actually preferably by PM. however if you somehow find my stream entertaining i'd also like to know. thanks for this stupid rear end derail all. I am sorry thread for this poo poo derail, and sorry man for wasting your time Pohl, sincerely. I got a friend to help me do it and believe it or not I may have actually made headway into making it run somewhat acceptably now. I am indeed a little goofy and sleep deprived, but not drunk. I am truly done bothering y'all about it. However, the link is still up and i may be playing a bit longer as I pull out a glass of wine or two to make things interesting. I also had an idea to share with yall, i did this with a few friends back during the xcom 1 days: For this game, All difficulty options will be maxed except no ironman. You can watch if you PM me, or go thru my post history, but I'm not remotely interested in promoting a badstream. otherwise just give me some info. 0. NAME. Anything that fits and isn't racist, sexist, or otherwise something you'd get banned for. 1.Gender - Male or female 2. Hairstyle - THere are many, google these or give me a rough idea and i'll use the closest approximate haircut available. I have both the xpac and the season pass, so everything available in those is available in you. Make sure to include hair color as well. 3. Clothing. This amounts to armor. Initial armor setups involve near-future military style oferings. Again, google it, but the general themes are - militaristic, "rogue" - as in you can look like a no-nonsesne mercenary who doesn't mind wearing a leather vest and exposed chest to a firefight with aliens. 4. Later on you'll want to choose a specialist class. Theses are: -Ranger. Default weapon is a shotgun, and a sword or axe. Ninja otaku type dude. -Grenadier. - Grenade Launcher and minigun, heavy weapons badass. -Specialist. - You get your own drone. If you want one of these you need to choose the medic path or the hacking path. Keep in mind i rarely keep the hacker on my team as a regular, as the medic specialist is far too useful. -Sharpshooter. - A sniper. Although they are best planted furthest from the action, i tend to lose them the most. They are very good though. -Psi Operative. - Takes a while to get there. I rarely beeline for psionics, if anyone makes the choice, I will make an effort to get psionics researched sooner than normal. Still, choosing this means waiting a while and maybe multiple games. Also a bunch of tattoos and other accessories available. Google this stuff and let me know if you want any of it. I will make as many of these as i can stand to make. You will get a picture of their death shot and all that. I promise nothing as far as matching all requests if a bunch of you want it done. I did this with my friends once with xcom 1 and it's rather fun. I thought i'd try with goons. yall are welcome to laugh and ignore or take me up. the effort involved is less than what it took to write this post so I leave it to you fine gentlemen and ladies. This will function as a semi-LP. Deaths will be reported. If anything crazy and heroic happens i'll give a writeup. funny deaths will be shared.
