You mean keep Cristobal as head coach, or just keep him on the staff? He got a raw deal at FIU, but that would still seem like a reach with all the money Oregon has.

I assumed HC but I can't say for sure. But yeah, seems like they could find someone better for HC.

True, but at the same time UF, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Tennessee, Arkansas, ASU, and UCLA all fired their coaches. And that's even before the carousel started turning and the FSU, Oregon, and Miss St jobs all came open.

I can't believe he only spent one loving year at Oregon.

This is by far the craziest year for coaches. Especially since the Giants haven't hired Brian Kelly yet :getin:

Taggart's a turnaround specialist, especially for recruiting. FSU doesn't need a turnaround. I think he'll be good, but boy if he isn't better than Jimbo he'll be out of there mighty quickly.

Cristobal has been rumored for a P5 HC job for a while. I think Pitt kicked the tires on him during one of their dozens of coaching searches this decade.

And if he signs officially tomorrow he will have been coach at all three in a 365 day span (1 @ USF, 363 @ Oregon, 1 @ FSU).

I mean i guess the Taggart thing is kinda mercenary but every step he’s taken has been a pretty clear upgrade for him so it doesn’t seem like something to knock him for too badly. It’s not like he knew the FSU job was going to be open any time soon when he went to Oregon

If they hire Cristobal they better spend a lot on a really good OC

I'm still not sure I get why Taggart is so highly regarded. Very curious to see how his time with FSU plays out.

Awesome recruiter who made big turn arounds everywhere he went. WKU was the worst program in FBS when he got that job and he got them to respectability and set the table for Petrino/Brohm. USF was coming out of the Skip Holtz fiasco and once he figured out the right offense he had them playing better than pretty much anyone in the G5.

I don't know how long "let's be Stanford North" was going to last in Oregon so I think they'll be okay.

oh. phil bennett is the defensive coordinator and he's probably gonna get some calls and supposedly he came on as a favor to graham to begin with. napier was seen as more of a lock to remain but even then it was contingent on him liking herm and the setup.

Taggart is an amazing hire for FSU and it's probably his dream job, which given how much Oregon could probably shell out and how good their facilities are, is probably the only reason he left.

That's good because all our OL and DBs do is turn around hah hah

So apparently we're also looking to take Jim Leavitt, Mario Christobal, Ron Dugans (Miami WR Coach) on staff and maybe blast Trickett and Kelly in to the sun I don't know

It's because a not insignificant portion of the fanbase wanted Kiffin () on top of, having never heard of this guy, all they did was go to wikipedia and look at his W/L. He obviously wasn't my first choice in who I'd want but he's a good hire.

I’m just glad the SEC is finally shying away from the Saban assistant roulette.

I think Morris will be fine and fun to watch at Arky. It’ll take a few years to get his athletes in there but he’s close enough to Texas to poach some gunslinging 3 and 4 star QBs that slip through Herman and Kingsbury’s grasps.
