At work contemplating upgrading the two SAN operating systems. Thinking about just biting the bullet and calling into support and walking through it, since they both need to be at the same level for the replication schedule that runs hourly. They're a good product and the engineers are great, but I'll probably get the India support team. There's nothing wrong with that it's just sometimes the accents will make it kind of difficult. Most of the upper tier India guys are really really good but they are trying to get through it and so are you so pausing to make sure you take your time can be frustrating for everyone.

I'll wait.

Compose that list if you can, then begin to realize that women are NOT expected to do these things. Work? Do, or don't, you're a powerful female and should be able to choose. It has nothing to do with your identity as a woman, as it does with a man. If men fail at ANY of the things above, women see them as less than. Regardless of pay inequalities, harrassment, rape culture, etc, THIS is what it's like on the other side: the hardships good men face as a result of simply being male. And it's impossible to live up to the standards women impose.

And even if you DO find a way as a man to be all the things you're expected to be, what does it earn you? At best, some wannabe Instagram model flashing her stuff all over for the world to see. A woman that constantly seeks the need for attention from other men, as if THAT weren't cheating simply because there was no penetration with those male onlookers. A woman that makes excuses for herself. A woman who keeps all her guy friends (as backups), but won't let you even TALK to another woman. A woman that leaves when the grass is greener on the other side for a season, but comes running back when the grass on your side of the fence greens up a bit. A woman that expects you to lead, but then fights you tooth and nail on every damned decision you make simply because she doesn't want the responsibility of hard decision making, but wants the privilege of making all the decisions to her pleasure. This has been, by and large, by experience in dating. Chivalry doesn't pay much in return because there's nothing expected out of women anymore. Much, much work for little in return.

If you've been seeking to make an equivalent list for females in comparison to the list of things that good men are trying to be, you'll soon realize that none of it aligns with the feminist narrative. It may have something to do with gender roles, and we just can't have that.

Let alone to consider what a good man, who tries his damnest to be one, feels that he may want from a good woman.

- He wants to have kids with you? NUHHHHH UHHHH GIRRRRRRRL, it's YO body.

- He wants you to stay home? NUHHHHH UHHHH GIRRRRRL, that's keeping you from making money at work, he's trying to control you!

- He wants you to keep up with laundry as he busts it at his 12 hour shift? No way, I'm no maidservant!

- He wants to have sex with you? NUHHHHH UHHHH GIRLLLLLL, he better rub my feet for the next hour, and buy me a nice bottle o' wine cause I gotta be drunk for all that even to be a POSSIBILITY (as if women didn't like sex, psshhht)!

This. THIS is what Matthew means. No man cares to be chivalrous anymore because it's too much effort to try for something that a) nobody will trust you for actually being because you might be a CREEPER (see above comments) - b) if you're chivalrous, you can't "reasonably" expect any effort back from a woman at the same level - c) if you ARE chivalrous, many woman feel that you're treating them if they are weak, and that's demeaning to them.

If you ladies, who I am sure feel (and probably are) exceptions to the standard female that I am describing here, and take offense to the fact that I would even DARE group you in with women of that calibur...

Just finished assembling my latest 3D printed project: an LED "bridge" light.

I put in an old RGB LED light strip that's been kicking around for a few years. It's not as bright, and a little finicky to "tune" in the color you want, but it works. I can get good approximations of cool and warm white, at varying brightness, and I've programmed them into the remote. Makes for shadow-free soldering, and if I push it back behind the monitors and turn it down, it's like a ghetto ambilight.

Normally I say "excuse the messy desk" but gently caress that, my desk is messy because I use it every day and life sucks sometimes.

The light is, in no way, cost or time-efficient to make. It was maybe $20-30 in filament, plus electricity, plus finishing and assembly time, plus the $8 worth of LEDs (that was $25 worth of LEDs when I bought them in like 2009). But it was fun, and I can continue to tune the process if I want to make a second one. The best thing I did was take some aluminum flashing tape and make the inside a reflector.

Also those first-gen blue LEDs bleed pretty drat heavily into the UV spectrum, meaning it works as an impromptu scorpion detector :v:

HP has a bizarre track record with their website and support but with their partners like Ingram Micro and others I can at least verify there is a part on a shelf waiting to get shipped. I'll get sent a DL380 and drives and parts but hell at least I can tell someone when we are getting it.
