BabelFish posted:Isn't 3 armor considered to be very high, the kind of armor only heavily armored elite troopers should have? The front line Legion Assault Armor only has an armor class of 2, and that's described as "heavily reinforced armor" in the lore. Well, that certainly bears out. I was just running Ghost Ship Carthage as written, and the two major fights in that have players up against enemies with 3 armor. Luckily I learned my lesson from that. At least one of the players had a puncture rifle and could deal serious damage. Next time maybe no mega-armor except in special circumstances.

While it's generally a pretty good introductory scenario, Ghost Ship Carthage could really use one additional fight with a larger group of lightly-armored, mobile enemies to highlight that side of the mechanics. You could probably do something in the medical ward with overturned gurneys and malfunctioning equipment to create a decent battlefield.

Yeah, I agree. I actually ran a brief introductory session before Carthage that had a fight exactly like that, so we've had a chance to have multiple kinds of fights. If I hadn't, though, I think I'd be a lot more frustrated with the system because I (and my players) would only know how it plays against single, highly-armored enemies. Now that we're done with Carthage I have to come up with another mission to keep them going since my players are still ironing out what their characters want to do, and having played both ways helps me know how to better balance things in the future.

So looks like we've got a timeline for the FE: expanded PDFs going out to backers who didn't just sign up to playtest and for the backerkit lockdown: Early november. So if you want to upgrade, probably best to do it by the end of the month.

The current plan is to do a soft launch early next year (free PDF rulebook +print on demand or print at home, cards), if things go well we will run a tight Kickstarter to print the cards and more minis.

The skirmish game looked ok, I got to play a game of Kingdom with the developer, it seemed ok, it was very freeform so didn't seem like we were using the mechanics too much. Played some Aeternum as well, standard races except one was a vampire who's rage ability got a little bit crazy, and a clockwork soldier who was very cool, the momentum stuff was interesting, gave you a few more options for actions in combat, beyond move to cover > shoot > reload when necessary.

Not yet, I don't think. Just 'a week after backerkit closes' If it's anything like the backerkit closure expect in the middle of the night US time, but hopefully with less random credit card declines. unseenlibrarian fucked around with this message at 17:07 on Dec 5, 2017 |

I know he was working on that, but I didn't see that anywhere on the Kickstarter, Backerkit, or DriveThru. Did I miss it somewhere? I've been dying to see his take on integrating these system. edit: the heck? I got emails for Aeternum, Seas, Kingdom, Antagonist/Protagonist Archive, all the adventures, short stories, and reference PDF. But I didn't get Hacked or the Core pdf itself. I know I selected the "gimme all the PDFs you got" option, but maybe something went weird because I backed during the Backerkit, not during the Kickstarter. I'll see if it shows up over the next day, then contact Wade if it doesn't. Duct Tape fucked around with this message at 03:36 on Dec 9, 2017 |

Isn't that what Corp are kinda sorta meant to be? Been too busy to process all the books, or even skim them too far. I do like the new character creation changes, makes being good at something more obvious, though (un)lucky crits will hurt so much more.

The Corp are the closest, though I feel like each of the Fragged Empire races represent different or exaggerated parts of humanity, so the Corp are still an "incomplete" reflection of humanity where they're good at organization and economics and comparatively poo poo with more tangible matters. They're superficially more "human" but under the surface they're still somewhat alien - they don't really value things like family and selflessness, for example. Not that the Corp are even in Fragged Kingdom.

Fragged Aeternum seems to have the strongest "What do we do with this" setting pitch of the three books so far, since by default you're part of the Tethered and do Tethered monster-hunter things. Though yeah, a little more detail on the Natures would be nice to have.

Ratoslov posted:They might, but y'know, a species of greedy merchant types is a little more worrisome in a fantasy setting. There's certainly that. My assumption was that in-universe if you had Corp it would imply the planet had meaningful outside contact but I'm not gonna argue against having less of those stereotypes around as well. Subjunctive posted:Yeah, I just dont know why that set of racial attributes bothers me more in fantasy than in other settings. There's a lot of historical precedent around persecuting people with those perceived characteristics in medieval times. It's pretty relevant in fantasy settings when you consider how most of those divide races by "role" to some extent or another.

I kind of want to play an actual Palantor in Fragged Kingdom who's got everyone convinced he's just a mysterious knight who never eats or sleeps or takes off his armor. Except if all the "Children of Pol" on the planet are mechanoids I imagine they'd zero in to eat him.

Looking at the Outfit rules for Fragged Seas it's really hard to resist the urge to kit out at least one PC as being naked but with a really impressive hat. (He'd have to be a wizard probably since no room for equipment with that outfit, but.)

So apparently this came up in the comments on the kickstarter, and Wade's response was that basically Natures could represent several different things and depending on your take different natures might all be viable for the same concept, so basically look at the mechanical benefits and reskin as you see fit. You could do a tethered who doesn't care whether they live or die and just wants to fight the biggest poo poo with apex predator -or- martyr, etc.
