If you're able to hold two pieces together prior to gluing, it's neat to touch the join and just watch the glue run in via capillary action. The square glass bottle it comes in is really nice too.

Just got done playing my second game of Necromunda. The only complaint I have is the rulebook, which is total loving garbo. Rules are scattered everywhere and there's no index or appendix.

It took us so long to find some rules that I'm probably going to end up making a quick reference document, or shoving the rules into a wiki so I can easily search them.

Other than that, I've really enjoyed both games. I also haven't found there's much of a disadvantage for Escher so long as you manage to play around getting charged by the best Goliath close combat units. Tactics cards are quite fun too. I had a rigged door slam shut on one of my Eschers, immediately sending her out of action.

On the whole, really hoping our group managed to find a regular time to play so we can run a campaign.

I should have been more clear - every other type of PLASTIC glue and type of bottle was garbage.

Super glue still has a time and place. I used to be a CA/Superglue proponent, but now Tamiya is used for like 95% of everything I do.

You clearly haven't used proper plastic weld before.

I've not used the extra-thin tamiya before but I suspect it's solvent with even less binder dissolved in it. If you go with pure dichloromethane it goes on like water and fuses pieces together in a few seconds.

I like regular plastic adhesive for when there's some slight gaps in the assembly, since the binder will "fill" the gaps to provide some grip, but with well fitting parts pure solvent is superior IMHO.

Same reason I prefer extra-thin superglue, it thickens up with time anyway, and you can add talc to make it into a paste if you need to.

Erm...

I don’t play Epic or Battlefleet Gothic... or Man O War!

Edit: Warmaster is fully sick by the way. Best GW game overall IMO. We could play that if you fancy trying something new.

You maniac. I can barely handle 40k and infinity, with a little necromunda thrown in. Warmaster - I'll consider it, but honestly I've never been drawn to such large-scale wargames, I prefer the skirmish stuff with 40k as an upper size limit (too large, some might say)

I'd rather play Epic than regular 40K. Ideally, 40K would center around making great miniatures for Heralds of Ruin kill team action, with APOCALYPSE supplement letting you take a landraider or whatever. Anything bigger should be Epic.

Also, I kinda finished painting my Goliaths, which means I'm fed up and I'll just have to live with all of the mistakes that I have made while doing it. Girlfriend-quality pictures to follow tomorrow.

It's also really hard to get ships, and anything outside the main box is broken as hell.

Cool looking gang. Did you build them exactly as the set crew in the game box? It didn’t look to me like there are a terribly customisable lot of poses available to the goliaths, didn’t know if weapons were similarly restricted.

Amen to that, I like some of GW’s specialist games but not everything evokes a surge of indiscriminate nostalgia in me. I get it was fun for people at the time, but the models and general imagery of that game look weird as gently caress.

I definutely build some guys just like the box accidentally.

The big issue with weapons is the lack of ambidexterity. Only axes (and power hammer) are left handed. Spudjackers are all right handed. Stub pistols are all left handed, and so on. So both the poses and the weapon combos are really limited. I mean, you could model the Combat shotgun guy with a spudjacker, but that would just be weird.

At least the Goliath kit has those awesome stiehelgrenates. For Escher, you really don't want to put anything more on their belts.

If you get an Escher sprue where the flame coming from the chem thrower has broken off, as seems to be common, contact GW. A friend just received two replacements. It's the first time I've heard of them breaking up a sprue for a replacement part.

So I bought the core new-cromunda rules and have read through - getting ready to play some introductory games against forums user ineptmule this week. I had one question about the quite abstracted cover rules: I get that a Prone fighter partially behind an Obstacle (ie one of the plastic barricades that comes in the box) is completely hidden. It’s assumed they have crawled into cover from view. If an Active fighter is completely behind (within .5” of) a barricade, it seems they can fire past/through it, ignoring the barricade for LoS purposes.

My question is, can this Active, completely behind barricade fighter shoot even if the Obstacle is completely solid, offering no TLoS at his target? This is implied in the rules but seems different to GW’s usual design ethos. Conversely, can the Active fighter behind his barricade be targeted (by enemies further away) through the barricade? Obviously not if there’s no TLoS, but he could easily be fully behind the barricade and still visible through an opening or over a lower bit of cover. The rules seem to imply that even though a fighter looks visible in that situation, they are considered completely hidden and untargetable. This would give fighters fully behind Obstacles complete control of firefights though, can’t be right.

If there are different or TLoS centric rules in the Gang War supplement could someone please warn me off? Likely going to buy it in a few days, don’t want to go nuts learning the wrong (basic) rules. Cheers.

Yeah, I'd like to get some clarification on cover rules, too. The whole "sees a portion of the base" thing seems to imply that you can't even shoot from behind barricades, unless I missed the 0.5" rule.

I'll probably treat it as regular hams cover, tho.

If you're playing by the box rules, Barricades do not block LOS (page 42.)

Per "Gang War" however:

quote:

The Line of Sight rules on page 42 of the
Necromunda: Underhive rulebook are used exclusively
for Zone Mortalis games. In Sector Mechanicus, they
are replaced with the following:

While a fighter's vision arc is determined by their
facing, their 'line of sight' (i e., what they can see)
is determined by the presence of terrain and other
fighters. Unlike measuring distances, which can only
be done when the rules call for it a fighter's line of
sight can be checked at any time.

To check a fighter's line of sight to another fighter,
stoop down to look from the first fighter's point of
view. If the other fighter is not entirely obscured
by terrain or other fighters, the first fighter has line
of sight to them. If the fighter is entirely obscured
except for their base and any insignificant elements
(a protruding hairstyle, the barrel of a gun or a spike
from their armour, for example), the first fighter does
not have line of sight to them. If players cannot agree
whether one fighter has line of sight to another, it
should be settled by rolling off.

Being as you're using LOS from the shooting model, unless the shooter is staring directly at a wall, you should be able to shoot at the target.

Wait they kept the stupid no pre-measuring rule? I mean, of course they kept TLOS, that's kinda GWs thing at this point, but no pre-measuring? That seems like a super obvious easy improvement

No pre-measuring seems to be the thing these days, X-Wing and RuneWars have the same.
