It's not marble or granite or anything like that, they're probably just going to crush it for aggregate.

Why bother slicing it up so nicely and putting a pile of stuff at the bottom to cushion the fall of it then? Blasting it would be way easier. Pretty odd.

Looks just like the process they use for marble.

Wow, it's a flame factory! Just like they always have climactic shootouts in.

Because the aluminum is already liquid at the foundry, and most of their customers also want liquid aluminum for casting. It's far more efficient to put in insulated containers than to pour into ingots, ship, and remelt. Aluminum also takes more energy to melt than most steels, and is much more difficult to correctly prepare for casting. If the specialized aluminum production facility does all the preparation and ships you a ready-to-use product, they're saving you time and the expense of operating a much more sophisticated factory.

Just about everyone gets royalty-free music from the same few sources. I've encountered videos using the exact same tracks I used in my work.

Why does my home's power fade and surge when I plug things in?

quote:

I live in Texas. I ran 300 ft of aluminum electric direct-bury 4-4-2 from the pole on street to my new home. The pole is metered and yes, I had my utility's blessing to do so.

Everything worked perfectly for 6 months, but now suddenly if I plug anything (lamp, heater, charger ) in my lights dim, or sometimes if I plug in elsewhere things get very bright or plug in heaters work better or worse depending.

There’s no rhyme or reason to any of it.

* I have undone and redone every receptacle to be sure.
* I installed 50 amp breakers in every slot of box on house to try to solve this problem to no avail. (I have never once tripped a breaker ever)
* I haven’t been able to put up sheetrock because I don’t want to have to remove it.

HOLY poo poo

I'm surprised nothing has burned to the ground. If your breakers are tripping, the solution is not to install higher amperage breakers. :cripes:

Volcott posted:

I know nothing of electricity, for one.

One of his more immediate problems was that putting 50 amp breakers in everywhere almost guarantees that the breakers will never trip in the event of a mishap.

In fact some smaller wire gauges couldn’t physically trip a 50 amp breaker, even if you wired them directly into a 3 Mile Island nuclear reactor. The wire would just catch fire, catch the electronic it’s connect to on fire, and then probably burn the house down.

A secondary problem is that he’s done all this work himself. I’m not sure how he "got the blessing" of someone from the local utility to do the work, but a blessing is in fact different than permitted work done by a certified electrician.

I’m sure there are bigger things I’m missing that someone better will explain.

As someone who's never worked with electricity before, what's the best resource (outside of going to a trade school) for learning about the subject and how to work with electrical equipment safely?
