No, white vote was down. You read cherry picked garbage or stuff that didn't account for party fleeing causing self-selection in republicans.

Do you think those who still voted for Moore really believed he was a pedophile and that the allegations were true? I hope thats not the case.

Like, gentlemen, I'm not uh, certain you're aware of how literally black and white gerrymandered Alabama is. Or how loving strong their suppression is. Blacks weren't too blame for 2016, goondamnit.

I don't think I've seen it phrased that way anywhere; all the outlets I've seen have been much more neutral about it. Could you be coming into the moment with preconceived expectations about coverage?

Twitter's gonna twitter, I wouldn't pay any mind. That goes for lovely leftist twitter, RWM death cultist twitter, neoliberal twitter, whatevs. Just enjoy the moment.

(that's definitely a super bad take, but I don't think from what I've seen that it's a very common one across the democratic constellation; if anything, the takeaway here will be that focusing on turnout and the base with your policies and GOTV while using rhetoric to appeal to squishy moderates is a good way to go)

Yeah, which is why they've been on a losing streak since 2008. Hopefully enough this seems to be changing for the better.

Now if only they would get rid of the goddamn grifters and incompetents and channel that money to local orgs who know what they're doing.

This is every state with a Republican PVI. Anyone at a PVI of R+15 or less is on watch now.

That's the 2018 Senate map. The only places that are safe are Utah and Wyoming.

Mississippi should absolutely be targeted next year. When Wicker won it last time he got 57% of the vote.

Dem candidate is currently someone named Jensen Bohren who I can't find anything about but the primary isn't for a while and they are trying to recruit Ray Mabus (former governor and Sec of the Navy) and Brandon Presley, the Public Service Commissioner.

Democratic recruiting was already doing really well. It's about to go bonkers.

The next time you see someone who doesn't want the party to reach out, or champion our causes, remind them of Doug Jones.

We win elections.

i would rate it as him being one of the few Democrats with a chance but it still being a heavily uphill battle. Tennessee has been trending heavily toward the Republicans. it will depend on how the race shakes out. I would not dismiss Texas though even though it's not an open seat the state is plagued with low turn out elections and in a year where Democrats feel highly incentivized to get out the vote, Cruz could have a real fight on his hands.

There's no overstating the power of grass roots movements/support.

I don't think national organizations can simply cut a check and build the political machines that carried Dems to victory in VA and AL this year. They were able to exist and do what they did because thousands of regular people got mad as hell and then got involved on the local level. Maybe the Kochs can astroturf this stuff right on the right, I don't know, but the left at least doesn't seem to work that way.

Welcome to the new age. It’s almost as if people learn from mistakes and change their thinking.

Perez era DNC is dangerous. State level machinery has found the formula and VA/AL has the blueprint. All we have to do is ride the tide and do the work.

Not every state with a Republican Senator running for re-election is as red as Alabama.

Get an infrastructure like Alabama's/Virginia's in Arizona and Nevada, and Heller and the AZ nominee (assuming Kelli Ward) are toast.
