Cross posting my crazy theory: What if Trump has phenylketonuria? It's a recessive mutation that causes severe mental retardation in infants due to a buildup of the amino acid phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is half of Aspartame, the sweetener in Diet Coke. Maybe Trump only carries one copy of the mutation, so his normal allele produces enough enzyme to make him normally asymptomatic, but 12 diet cokes a day is too much and he's getting a buildup of phenylalanine.
