I don't know how good the streaming quality is (or if it actually is available somewhere else) but a short prequel series, Stargate Origins, is being released at some point next year and they are selling an "all-access" pass at https://www.stargatecommand.co/home . It lets you stream all the other series and eventually the prequel when its released.

^^Edit: Hulu is also good I guess

Yeeeah, that one is pretty rough. It’s generally regarded as one of the worst episodes of Star Trek ever (any series) - they ran over budget on earlier episodes in the season and did a clips show to help balance the books.

He’s not really wrong, they spent a lot of time and money on the holodeck Sherlock and the Borg episodes and were told by Paramount to make a cheap episode to film quickly. It’s not like the worst poo poo ever in my opinion, it’s just there.

The guy who was in charge of the clip show editing wanted to call the episode “Riker’s Brain”.

It’s sort of tangentially related to the WGA strike, the season was shortened because of it (22 episodes instead of 26) and some production fuckery resulted (like “The Child” being a rehashed Phase II script about Ilia). I want to say that the shortened season led to them trying more ambitious productions like the aforementioned Sherlock and Borg episodes, which in turn overran their schedules/budgets and led to the end of season crunch. But that bit I don’t have a source for.

I thinks it sticks in people’s minds as a bad episode as clip shows (at least generic ones like this without some kind of twist as with SG-1’s) are generally weak, and closing out the season with one was doubly poor. In terms of actual awfulness, I agree I don’t think it holds a candle to episodes like Code of Honor.

Watching Preemptive Strike. I figured it was time since I dreamed about it last night. They' celebrating the "return of an old friend" and I paused to try and guess who it is. Not Wesley, since he already came back recently. Not Barclay, because he never left. Not Yar or Picard's mentor, because he died. I'm gonna say O'Brien or Whoopi. Wait no, someone spoiled me that Whoopi doesn't come back, so it's got to be O'Brien.

They were mostly established in DS9.

When the Federation and the Cardassians came to an agreement, some Federation colonies ended up in the DMZ or in Cardassian territory, and The Maquis were formed as a resistance movement against the Cardassians and without the Federation's consent. Mostly colonists fighting back against legitimate grievances against the Cardassians and Federation. (Like those that the Enterprise tried to move from their land in previous eps)
