Coldforge posted:JFC, watching this on broadcast, I had no idea Foster did this: I thought I understood what he was saying but now I'm unsure and I don't recognize 49ers defensive players on sight. To me, it's the edge rusher to the right of the screen that completely ruins this play. He tosses the tight end on his rear end right in front of the runner, then was right there to make the tackle if that didn't work. It was definitely a team effort, several guys came into the pocket, but I love the strategy of just throwing a guy on his rear end right into the play and ruining the whole thing. Also, this guy is fantastic, can't believe I've never checked out his twitter. I could watch this poo poo all day.

I love how he highlights O-line / D-line play as well. You don't see that quite enough sometimes, it's all on the flashier plays. But this double block is amazing, he literally flattens one guy, taking him out of the play completely, stays on his feet and puts another guy on his back, springing Gurley for a big run. On TV it's difficult to get your eyes off the action, i.e. quarterback, ball flying through the air, receiver, or the runner. But this is the type of play that is necessary for big runs. https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/940582620718608386

That's Aaron Lynch, the other guy I mentioned. They both do a great job, but Foster is taking on an offensive lineman who has 100lbs on him at the point of attack, and Aaron Lynch is rushing against a TE that was recently on the Texans practice squad, and is on backside pursuit. Foster has the far more difficult task. Play posted:I love how he highlights O-line / D-line play as well. Baldinger's a former NFL offensive lineman (and he used to do color commentary, after that).

That makes sense. He definitely shut down the inside run completely. Regarding Baldinger, that's pretty obvious. The only times he really gets worked up is about O-line and pass rush. That's when he's most hilarious by far. https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/937865964707868672 He's totally right, that is an amazing O-line play which set the stage for that run. I never would've seen that club in a live broadcast. My dad played for UCLA in the seventies as an edge rusher. His favorite move by far was the club or chop club, right to the side of the head. He even said you could upset the player's ear if you got a cupped palm over the ear hole. I'm not sure if that's legal anymore though or if it really works like that, heh. Sseems like that would be illegal use of hands. https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/illegal-use-of-hands-facemask/ That appears to be forceful, above the frame, and directed at the head.

Wasnt the clubber in that clip an onlineman knocking a defensive lineman on his rear end?

Kazak_Hstan posted:Wasnt the clubber in that clip an onlineman knocking a defensive lineman on his rear end? Yeah, it just reminded me of the football stuff my dad used to talk to me about. In those days you could smack a guy right in the side of his helmet to turn his head or just provide a minor concussion, run right past him and paste the quarterback. Of course, the offensive lineman could club you just the same if you weren't careful. My dad doesn't talk about playing football much at all these days, because the injuries he took (just college ball, too) ended up causing inconvenience and pain for the rest of his life.

Hawks are too injured to do anything in the playoffs anyway. Take the extra rest, get healthy, and go into next year with a better line to protect Wilson.

Even without all the injuries, we have played very poorly for large stretches. Our DL has been completely invisible the last 3 weeks, it's embarrassing after all the hype about getting Richardson

Which is why mr Positivity himself has been a good fit for the team. algebra testes fucked around with this message at 05:15 on Dec 18, 2017 |
