Sombrerotron posted:I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but perhaps it bears repeating: knowing there's cloaked ships about doesn't mean you can suddenly spot and/or target them. Clearly the transports weren't cloaked in the usual sense, because they were plainly visible, but it's possible they had some kind of stealth devices that render them invisible to radar or lidar or sensors or whatever. It's not outside the realm of possibility that Hux went "oh I guess we'll have to throw the anti-stealth switch and be done with it", but given that no such thing is mentioned, it seems likelier either that: It is mentioned: after BDT tells the FO about the plan to escape via transports, a guy comes in and says "we ran a decloaking scan" which is how they confirm what he tells them is true

It's not a sign of him seemingly having a change of heart, or showing that he's More Evil. It's a significant development for his character, it's just not the one you're looking for. I think the problem is you're viewing Kylo as an obstacle for the heroes, and not as one of the main characters in this series with his own conflicts and temptations. Can we talk about how this movie completely misses the visual point of a Star Wars film by using the same saturation filter as every other gritty movie in the last 10 years?

I really dug the use of colour - the film seemed to go out of its way to make the reds really vibrant (Snoke's throne room, his guards, the dust on Crait, Ren's lightsaber). Snoke's throne room kinda felt like it was something out of Ran actually. edit: Man that's great set design. edit 2: Maybe I'm thinking of Greenaway's The Baby of Macon or possibly something by Fellini or Bergman. So at the end when Luke appears and "touches" Leia, she immediately understands he's not actually there and it's only an insubstantial projection, right? She gives a look of slight shock and there's a quick countershot of Luke with a wry expression like "yup, you get it."

Raises a point as to whether she'd think Kylo killed him or he died of exhaustion. Also the crystal tunnel chase and the Rebel fanfare are awesome.

Her crew didn't trust her and would rather take orders from the dude literally just demoted for insubordination. Literally everyone is fine taking orders from her except Poe who organizes a mutiny because he didn’t like how she talked to him and wouldn’t treat him like he thinks he deserves to be treated. Watch again when the woman is about to name Leia’s replacement. Poe looks around and thinks it’s gonna be him. He’s pissed it’s not. He then leans over to another man and is like “who the gently caress is this? This is the Holdo I’ve heard about? She’s a woman? gently caress.”

Sorry if this has been pointed out but: 1)Lolz at tiny bomber in the opening being able to do that much damage 2)Hyperspace a few SDs in front of the rebels? They had like 24/36 hours to figure something out. 3)Send out like a huge wing of tie figthers to disable engines or poo poo? Seriously lazy. Oh right, no support 4)Big door on salt hoth was like super thin. Didn't make any sense at all that whole battle. Why didn't they shoot another volley into the cave? Kylo clearly says they should kill everyone. Why not just shoot it from space? 5)Lolz at how powerful jumping to hyperspace is. Too bad they wasted all their support ships doing nothing instead of ramming them. Also lol at the medical frigate not evacuating until it was too late even though they knew they would run out of fuel.
