This is AFP to me, probably no one else. Yesterday was "beef burger day" in our school's cafeteria. The hamburgers had no buns, for health reasons, but they did have an enormous vat of mayonnaise on the salad bar for kids to adorn their burgers. So, kids being kids, they buried their burgers in thick, shelf-stable cellulite. It was loving disgusting.

So it's just a hamburger patty sitting on a plate with a bunch of mayo on it? Even for cafeteria food that sounds dire.

Reminds me of the 'salad and pasta bar' we had at my high school, you got a plate and then whatever else you could fit on it including pasta, salad, sauce, bread, desert, fruit...etc. The idea was your could make a well rounded lunch if you didn't like what the normal cafeteria was serving. It was a well intentioned experiment, but turns out that everyone just drowns their pasta in either marinara or alfredo and slaps on like half a loaf of bread and a few brownies, maybe add a salad layer to it in there, to keep away from the sauce until they get to their seat. There were some pretty creative layers. e: my fav was base of pasta/meat sauce, layer of bread, salad w/ dressing and then some deserts that might get some ranch of them but it was worth it. There are two vats of bread, white and whole-wheat. No idea why there aren't buns; health or gluten were my only two guesses. Lunch is usually really good. Full salad bar, 2-3 protein choices, dessert is almost always fresh fruit. I just think a big, blorpy vat of condiments is a bad idea for little ones. E: today's lunch. Mayonnaise-free, thank God. Salad with some cold cuts, roasted peppers and carrots, lentil veggie stew, and a dank hunk of pineapple that I ate like a starving werewolf. Today was two-kinds-of-fish day, which was some BULLSHIT but ok. Fleta Mcgurn has a new favorite as of 13:53 on Dec 19, 2017 |

Oh no I remember from my own formative years how deep that rabbit-hole goes. For example, our school cafeteria started mixing pineapple with beans because the pineapple by itself was too popular.
