evilweasel posted:even if every single one had two cats it wouldn't be. You don't really have two barn cats. You have an indefinite ever shifting number of cats you see sometimes. Barn cats are more about sustaining a vague cat colony across all the local farms and not about individual cats. Like growing up we had cats, but we also had like, the cat that slept under our house sometimes we called whitey because he was white and sometimes in the nearby fields you'd run into black whitey you looked like whitey but black and it was too much work to think of totally new names for all these random cats hanging out in and around farms.

evilweasel posted:nah, he's just following the manchin route: he's from a deep red state and the way to get re-elected is to be loudly republican where it will help in the state (which is why nobody bit on obamacare repeal and the current tax nonsense, which nobody likes) and doesn't matter and quietly democratic where it does. in other news, manchin is looking reasonably likely to get re-elected in loving west virginia. I don’t think this bears out. The people who voted in Jones don’t really bear any resemblance to the electorate in WV; he was brought in upon the backs of black Alabama, and tellingly, white voters who went Jones are overwhelmingly detached from the evangelical crowd where Jones comments on allegations against Trump would have weight if he were a Republican. And if the polling on Moore’s pedophilia having nearly no impact bears out, triangulating against the base that rammed him into office seems unwise. This all makes even less sense if you believe he’s only in for 2020.

re: cats. We used to let one of ours out, but he's getting older and got mauled in a fight with something bad enough to need vet care and antibiotics. Now all the cats are indoors, which is just as well as there's lots of coyotes in my area (they're particularly prevalent in spring when they're establishing territory).

We used to take on un adoptable feral cats to use as Farm cats to keep the rat population at Bay. However, due to our incredibly large coyote, possum, weasel and raccoon population the average lifespan was a little under a year. Except for Sean Connery, he came to us mangled and earless, and 5 years in he was still going strong although at some point he lost a foot. That's my cat story. My neighbor's feeds an unending stream of house cats to the coyotes though, she doesn't seem to learn her lesson.

I'd file that under deliberate misinformation; a politicians job is to represent their constituents. Shouldn't he be talking about a married couple earning $55k? I'm trying to use a tax calculator on this but it keeps telling me that the taxes owed for a family of two taking in $55k with two kids is now zero because the child tax credit deductions at $2k each are larger than the taxes owed. The difference I worked without child dependants amounts to under $200 ... this can't be right?

Its not all disgust and/or fear of Trump, if you were able to vote for him, then you already figured out a way to be fine with his distasteful personality. Its still a bit of a stretch to predict a Jones victory, but his best shot as a Democrat would be to avoid the personality cult of Trump, be quiet on the social/religious issues, and run as a hard-core populist.
