Anyone who cannot engage in rational discourse without namecalling or getting super heated about it is getting a nice vacation. 4 post lifts seem almost pointless to me- basically only good for fluid changes and parking a car under. You want to actually do any work get a 2 post.

4 posts are good for drive on stuff, like oil change, exhausts and trans. But 2 post do that plus suspension and brakes/wheels off stuff. Most trans and exhaust places only have 4 post because that's all they need plus easier to just drive on/off, most mechanics need a 2 post though, and often have a 4 post as well.

So what do we post to get pictures of dicks? (besides CSB's dick, we've all seen that thing by now) Lift chat: went to get my car's annual inspection done today. The quick lube shop I went to has an outdoor 2 post lift. They had a F-150 on it... tilting at a funny angle... with transmission jacks under the rear bumper.  I was too shocked to take a picture (plus they swarmed out as soon as I pulled up). Definitely glad I don't go there for anything but inspections.Last year they basically just checked the ECU and looked at one tire. This year they  Don't think I'm going back there next year though; heard the pretty distinct sound of my car revving its tits off. Babby's first time with a clutch I guess.e: poo poo... just went back and looked, the video of me pulling in (which would show the lift) already got overwritten, but I caught a little bit of the clutch abuse. Wasn't as bad as I thought. They didn't do any of the safety inspection at all though, just did the emissions portion. Not that it'd fail anything, and TX is doing away with safety in March, but I got charged for the combination safety+emissions check. I have midget porn. ... more so I can say I have it. It doesn't do anything for me, but it's fun to throw on when people say they don't believe it exists. Kinda like when a friend of mine told me he had clown porn a long time ago, and I didn't believe him. At my shop the only 4-post lifts were on the alignment racks. Trouble is, they were also the only ones capable of accommodating the HD pickups and full-size work vans that regularly came in. So you'd have to pull on the lift, raise it up, then use the little build-in pneumatic jacks to raise the wheels off the rack so you could actually work on it. It was sketchy as gently caress, especially since most of these trucks had lift kits and giant tires, to where the jacks would almost max out their travel before getting the wheels in the air. They were also this style; the jacks are the things between the rails. They slide back and forth, and the giant ram cylinders swing down 90 degrees when you want to use them. As you can probably guess, that means you can't lower the lift all the way down when they're in use, so if you needed to get into the cab you're climbing into it while it's 4 feet in the air, perched on the tiny little jacks. Oh, and while all this was going on you couldn't do alignments, which was fantastic to deal with. Especially on the duallies that would come in for a rotation every 2000 miles or so. I had one where the inner rear wheels were steel with the rest alloys, meaning I couldn't do a front/rear rotation with those. The fronts and outer rears were the same unit, but you'd flip them, ie negative offset when mounted on the rear, positive on the front. However, this meant that the inner flange on the rears, caked in grime and all scratched up, would be facing outward when mounted on the front. The owner absolutely refused to have that even though that's how the truck was designed, and wanted the rear inners fully cycled around instead of just swapping side-to-side, so every time he brought it in he insisted on us dismounting all 6 tires and swapping them between rims. This was a rotate/balance that regularly took over an hour, once the rack was open for use. And of course every time he bitched that it was taking longer than his wife's Camry. Sorry, got war flashbacks there for a minute.

Speaking of, there's a now-abandoned Sears Auto Center sorta close to me. Was supposed to be torn down with the mall, then the city said "whoa nelly" on the tax incentives to tear down the mall, now it's in legal limbo. Now the owner of the mall wants the mall rebuilt to its prior condition, by the city (1/3 of it is rubble now, a tiny portion is still open as a handful of shops and a movie theater), since the city pulled out on all the tax breaks and bonds and etc etc etc... the city pulled out because the owner stalled so long on tearing it down. It was supposed to be a huge (completed) mid rise mixed use (commercial/residential) a year or so ago. Should I go snap a few pictures to
