Dogs are a lot more effort than cats, and require more attention. They can also be louder, can hamper your schedule i.e. gotta be home by X hour or dog will have peed on the rug. Have to take them outside, which can suck during a blizzard or hurricane or whatever.

Cats you can leave with some food and water and leave for like a week if you do it right.

Oh yeah my wife and I are usually gone for a night or two and we just throw out extra food, water, litter and leave a central light on and call it a weekend.

It's a big positive cats have over dogs.

Sorry we have different opinions on dog ownership, I just think they should be able to go outside and play in the grass and stuff.

I lived in a small apartment with my old lady dog, walked her before work, came home for lunch and walked her, walked her after work, walked her before bed, it was fine

She's also a small dog though

So like....do you think people that live in apartments don’t have access to the outside or grass? I’m so confused by this. I live in apartment and Maggie gets out 4-5 times a day at least for 10-15 minutes at a time and I take her on at least 1 hour walk or to the dog park. If I know I’m not going to be around for several hours on end I schedule a dog walker.

It’s so stupid to think that if someone lives in an apartment they shouldn’t have a dog.

Yep sure thing. Your opinion as you presented it was that people shouldn’t have dogs in an apartment because it was cruel, not that you felt like YOU wouldn’t be able to keep a dog in the apartment in the situation that you had.

One is a dumb opinion and the other isn’t. Maybe be more clear next time.

Interesting fact: if you have an indoor dog, they generally prefer being indoors even when you have a large yard they can play in

I'm just sharing my observations in owning indoor dogs (my entire childhood was nothing but outdoor dogs who had a doghouse and rarely came in the house)

Honestly it seems like outdoor dogs are for people who don't have the patience to housetrain because they're so much more affectionate when they're kept indoors and also they don't get exposed to the elements as much

Hell little rat fucker dogs have plenty of space in an apartment but all the apartments I'd been in in the bay were too cramped for a dog of any realsize, hence my opinion. If you got a place with decent size and a patio, sure. I guess I should have been more exact with my language, I guess.

I grew up with indoor-outdoor dogs and they all just wanted to go outside all the drat time in good weather. I wanted to give my dogs that and I couldnt until recently.

That’s what you got out of that initial comment?

If his point is that the situation he was in wasn’t conducive to him having a dog, that’s fine and I respect that, but that’s not what he said. Plenty of people have dogs in apartments and do just fine. Which I said and got this response:

Spoeank posted:

Nothing here tells me that he’s talking specifically about his situation because he’s making blanket statements.

Thinking that nobody should have a dog if they live in an apartment is dumb. Every situation is different and plenty of people (like me) do just fine with dogs in apartments.

Thinking you shouldnt have a dog because the apartment/situation you’re in wouldn’t be good for the dog is not dumb and is being responsible.

My girlfriend and I watched Princess Bride for the first time over the weekend. Me for the 900000th time and her first.

She said it was really cheesy but “cute”

I guess that’s fair and I’m still riding a wave of nostalgia over that movie because it’s one of my moms favorites but it still stung a little that she didn’t immediately love it

My mom found out she’d never seen it and bought this really beautiful leather bound copy with these really nice drawings in it for her and I’m worried she won’t like it.

I don't really disagree with the Liotta part of things. But everything came together perfectly for Goodfellas, and his lovely acting worked out well. Kinda like the whole Henry Hill irl story really (as far as the time covered in the film is concerned).

So you're 50% wrong.
