well Lanus sort of dominated that but Gremio made a push at the end and missed a real gift from the keeper and probably should have gotten a penalty the refs had to be escorted off at the end, good poo poo

Apparently Barca is hitting up Arthur. Maybe a La Liga guy will get curious so: he's a really good young DM, holds on to the ball and passes great, not really a finisher tho.

Well we’re sending a team (now) from the Primera B to the Libertadores. We also had a team this year come one draw away from winning the B while also being relegated on coefficient. Truly a land of contrasts

Keylor Navas' hometown club Perez Zeledon won their first ever Costa Rican championship last night in an upset win against favorites Herediano. It's cool that a different club will lose against the Mexicans in the next concachampions

I just saw highlights of Tigres - America and the two goal scorers were Gignac and Menez. Weird times. I didn't even realize Menez had signed with America.

many people question Menez coming to America as he didn't do anything in Turkey, but he has scored 2 goals in 3 matches already, hope he can regain his level.

Libertadores moving to the stupid one game final next year. Fine by me, my team (Atletico Mineiro) will probably suck for the next few years anyways. But it's going to be super funny to see them trying to sell a final like Atletico Nacional vs Del Valle anywhere outside of their home countries.

One game final for the Libertadores is the stupidest idea ever. Latin America doesn't have a lot of plastics to fill up stadiums wherever, and single-game is already poo poo from a competitive standpoint. Even as a Grêmio supporter I can honestly say no one would watch Grêmio x Lanús if it was hosted in Colombia, for instance.

I didn't know that, its such a terrible idea

CONMEBOL just wants to make more money sending the finals to somewhere like Florida or whatever. It's a terrible, garbage decision even before you realize single-game playoffs are horrendous and the only reason the World Cup does them is because of time constraints.

It’s all going downhill since the Mexican teams left. I saw some sources suggesting Lima or Santiago as places to hold the final but just lol at the idea it’ll be anywhere but Miami

Yeah, this is probably an attempt to grift Americans and immigrants in the US. Earlier this year I went to a Florida cup match between Atletico Mineiro's C team and Atletico Nacional's B team and there were probably 10,000 people there.

The South American leagues just have no visibility in the US. While I think the games are on par with or significantly more entertaining than most European games, no one can really compete with UEFA's marketing. Even the MLS has to try to be more European in an effort to attract American fans to watch their games. It's disgusting. Plus, half the reason the games in South America are so amazing is because of the atmosphere in the stadium. Bringing it to a neutral location without those fans is just killing the energy of the game itself. CONMEBOL is just making bad decision after bad decision.

# ? Feb 24, 2018 17:24 |

If they are trying useless ideas why not make it like the old times with a 3rd final in neutral ground instead of a penalty shootout. Edit: I could see kinda working the single final in neutral ground if it's chosen to be close to both finalists.
