My favorite part of the stream was where none of the animations were lerped. lerping between animations is like rule -2 of working with 3d animation scripts. (lerping is linear interpolation, where you make sure the model doesn't jitter between animation scripts. It's _built in_ to most engines. )

I think in conclusion that what I am learning about CIG is that when everything goes absolutely right for them, they produce overwrought, miserable crap that nobody is really interested in. That's what makes the backers obsess over dreams, and the goons obsess over bugs; The functional parts of the games are mind numbingly dull. If it weren't for the fact that literally everything they've shown us in the last couple years was fired off all at once in a 2 hour snoozefest, I'd worry that they might finally kill the comedy by actually releasing a workable game. As it is, I think that was probably everything they had, and it was poo poo. I just hope all of this ends with a bang and not a drawn out fart. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good

I say good  to you siredit - after 6 years this is all they have. Holy gently caress this is bad real bad. No gameplay - no mission nothing just cut scenes. and a little wanky janky combat quicktime events. Like holy poo poo this is bad. Took a quick look and had to skip around a bunch because it seemed to be 80% flying through set pieces where Mark Hamill talked at you. Only saw one or two combat scenarios. I mean, the set pieces are well-rendered, but its not really worthwhile unless things actually happen. And the launch sequence was overwrought. Just off of the video, it looks like Id have more fun replaying Strike Suit Zero. Its not as pretty and more arcadey, but doing a Macross-style missile spam seems like it'd be a lot more satisfying.

Leaving the Idris was pure agony. I just didn't understand why that part required three minutes of looking at those weird interaction buttons. It just felt sooo slow. Like the guy wasn't sure what to do and was talking to someone across the room.

I had bags under my eyes like that once, shortly before I ended up in hospital from overwork. Actually, they were more like that. The real black, puffy bruise-like ones, paired with bloodshot eyes. Yes, that's definitely Ortwin. Squadron 42. Okay. Look at the attention to detail and effort that went into Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare... which was not received well by the market. Even if Chris Roberts threw a dozen more engine/script/mocap reworks at his magnum opus, and actually made it stick, it still wouldn't get to where COD:IW ended up. COD:IW released over a year ago - they did the entire job from beginning to end, and got a game out. Warts and all, compromises and all. When Infinity Ward does it, "COD In Space sucks". When CIG does it, "S42 was incredible and just what I was hoping for. I absolutely CAN wait, because it'll be worth it.". lol

Apparently game designers (Chris) will never realize gamers really could give two shits about fancy graphical atmosphere and crescendo building music when there is literally zero game play to be had People want to play a game they paid 60 to 5000 dollars for. Not watch an actor talk to other actors Jesus Christ I really hope 2018 brings the full force of the law against Chris and his hopes and dreams

I can live with that being the video-game vision of the future. It just makes for terrible gameplay because even if you can get a game out of the door one of the two gameplay modes will be half-arsed.
