Leasing is just financing with a defined buyback at the end of the lease. You can always choose to buy the car at the end and keep it as long as you want, or buy it and sell it, or turn it in, all depending on how it’s held value versus the expected residual when you started the lease.

The constant fear of your spouse dying at their not very dangerous job drives a lot of cop wives to not give a poo poo about absolutely anything other than their husband coming home every night. In a similar vein nobody "supports R troops" like Army wives.

I had an idea to both enrich the country and create incentives to be rich. I call it the "reverse hunger games." Every 4 years (put it in between presidential election) the 5 richest people in America owe zero taxes, 6 through 10 are brutally killed and all of their assets are forfeited to the state. Alternatively 1 and 2 richest get a free pass 3 through 10 are in a cage match to the death, winner gets half the assets of the dead, state gets the rest.

I want a sensible vehicle with decent gas mileage and some room in the trunk if I need to move a couch. And we got an Outback last year so  Actually I have a thing for hatchbacks and my retired old fart vehicle will be a Mini if they still make them.

Not to get too political but clearly revolutionary communism doesn't work. However, that doesn't mean that slower Democratic socialist reforms should not be the goal. It's just that the romantic idea of overthrowing the corrupt power structure is appealing even though the reality is far from preferable.
