I mean, I'd be all for that, hail Satan etc etc. That would rocket the 49ers far beyond the browns on the stupidest team in the NFL list, though.

Tae posted:So someone mentioned that Josh Gordon has to either take a 3 year minimum or never play in the NFL again? So he doesn’t have 3 accrued seasons because he was suspended for the final game of 2014 and he lost his legal battle to count it anyway, thus making that season not count. He can then be designated an exclusive rights free agent this FA period which means they can offer Gordon the minimum and then nobody else can sign him. Next season he would be a RFA so he could leave if a team would give up a first or second for him but with his history they just won’t. But that season he’d make much more than the minimum. He could then be a UDFA in 2020. Diqnol fucked around with this message at 03:17 on Dec 25, 2017 |

The most sensible thing for the Browns to do would be to offer Gordon a 2+ year contract with a low base salary, but a ton of incentives. Costs them nothing if he fucks up and gives him the chance to be a solidly paid player if he performs. There's absolutely no reason to hose him with a minimum contract, they need goodwill FAR more then they need cap space currently.
