Guys. GUYS.

I have no updates for you. Nothing of substance. I’m still like 30 pages behind on this thread. But I want to let you know there is BREAKING NEWS in Albuquerque.

Last year you may remember I posted about Clifford Miller, a man found stabbed, mutilated, genitals removed, and decapitated behind a Wal-Mart a short distance from my home. In fact, it was just over a year ago. Miller’s body was discovered on December 17th 2016.

https://www.abqjournal.com/913907/friend-man-found-decapitated-outside-ne-abq-walmart-was-homeless.html

An autopsy report had been released in March of this year that gave no insight other than two details – Miller was decapitated post-mortem and that seminal fluid was found on the man. No one could say whether it was his or not because presumably no one in charge cared. That was literally the last thing learned about the case that’s been made public as far as I’m aware. And most of the articles detailing this again used mugshots of Miller, no doubt a tactic to make this man more distant from the general population.

Okay. Okay okay. So I walked into work this morning and I’ve caught up on work and I usually have about an hour or so before I have to get rolling unless there’s some emergency that needs to be tended to. Sunday mornings, not so much. Sunday morning on xmas eve? Even less. So I open up local news and I’m greeted with a slew of vague news reports:

Suspicious death being investigated in Four Hills area.

Four Hills is a neighborhood in the city situated at the extreme southeast of Albuquerque and is generally considered one of the “nicer” neighborhoods. Upscale homes on rolling desert plots. Lots of money, lots of expensive properties in spite of having been built on a former dump.

One news story in particular was explicit about the damage found to this body. It was decapitated and mutilated, and for the time being, investigators can’t determine the identity, or even the gender, of the victim.

No story has mentioned Clifford Miller of a year ago, or the fact that he had been found headless and mutilated, or the fact that it was just days before xmas, but I think that’s a hell of a coincidence. Four Hills is not close to Miller’s location, but nothing is that far in Albuquerque. I’ll post updates as information comes out. Not that there will be much, as history shows. But here are some links:

The Albuquerque police found a hand sticking out of the dirt in a vacant lot two years ago, dug up a body, and proceeded not to bother investigating any further: https://www.abqjournal.com/607164/possible-human-remains-found-in-nw-abq-lot.html

It amuses me that they didn’t bother working through the night because it was “too dark”. This from the people who set up giant generator-powered flood light and camera surveillance contraptions in grocery store parking lots.

It could be two unrelated deaths but its hard not to see similarities, considering its the same time of year, the same city, and similar mutilations. My gut says it's a serial killer just getting started and it looks like he's ramping up each death. If it is just the one guy, he's dumping the bodies pretty prominently so it feels like this is the beginning of something, instead of feeling like he's killed before and no one has found the bodies yet. But I guess he could already be a serial killer for all we know. Spooky stuff Droogie, keep us posted.

Police use mannequin 'decoy' to arrest suspected homeless killer in downtown Las Vegas

quote:

Police arrested a man who was caught on camera trying to "kill" a mannequin decoy set up near a downtown Las Vegas intersection where two previous homeless men were bludgeoned while they slept.

Las Vegas Metro police arrested 30-year-old Shane Schindler on Feb. 24, but they have yet to officially charge him in connection to the murders. For now, Schindler faces a concealed weapons charge.

Investigators set up a mannequin that resembled a homeless person as a decoy and placed it in the area where Daniel Aldape and David Dunn were killed. On Feb. 22, within a few hours, officers watched from across the street as Schindler approached the dummy.

Police said Schindler looked around and put a hood over his head before going up to where the mannequin was placed. He was carrying a plastic Little Caesar’s Pizza bag with a hammer inside. Schindler eventually removed the hammer from the bag, gripped it with both hands and then smashed the mannequin in the head several times. Officers monitoring the area then took Schindler into custody.

No kidding. "This guy knows about the body from last year that was all over the news! Bring him in for questioning.

But I was just sitting on a corner in The War Zone™ putting in some notes and watched about 7 APD units roll up and tape off an area, just minutes ago. While this is not unusual here, CSI got here real fast. Can't wait to find out what that is, if anything of note. It's probably just a normal day in the section of city that most closely resembles Detroit in RoboCop.

However, because REMOVING a judge is often difficult, and because they wield so much power, when you get someone objectively terrible things can be really, REALLY bad.

There's also the "Kids for Cash" scandal where TWO judges (Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan) got kickbacks from Robert Mericle, who owned two private juvenile detention facilities, to sentence kids to prison for incredibly minor offenses.

Not just judges, they elect prosecutors in America. That's a mindfuck too far for me.

I don't know how widespread the practice is, but in the county where I'm originally from, if the sheriff gets in trouble, the coroner becomes sheriff.

In the past 25 years, three sheriffs have been involved in crimes and were removed from the post. Yep, the coroner has become sheriff all three times. Thankfully, special elections were quickly set up get a new sheriff in charge.

For the curious, the sheriff troubles have been: a) embezzlement, b) being a doofus by giving guns back to criminals after they're released from prison sentences and c) brutality. In the case of c) deputies roughed up a suspect. The sheriff was so legitimately proud of "how we do it here in [shithole] county," he showed the tape at a sheriff's convention. Even they were disgusted by it.

unless the hammer had hobo dna on it or he googled "why do i keep killing hobos" and "where do hobos sleep in vegas" i can't see how a search warrant would help.

apparently they were able to charge him with attempted murder and he pled guilty though:

a little surprised tbh, i'd think he could talk his way out of that by claiming he knew it was a mannequin. maybe not to a jury but on appeal

It doesn't. Even first degree murder doesn't require a specific target.

If I take a gun, load it, and then head downtown and kill someone it doesn't matter who I kill. That's first degree murder. I set out with the intent to kill someone. The fact that the someone is a random anyone is irrelevant.

It’s actually a famous legal theoretical question. "I shoot someone in the heart, thinking I was killing them. They were already dead. What am I guilty of?"

Turns out attempting murder isn’t just failing to extinguish someone’s life, but attempting to take a life.

I remember first hearing about this story. They showed the footage on the news and it freaked me the gently caress out to know I'd witnessed someone doing something that, in their mind, would result in the death of an innocent person. ...Also I was once awoken by getting punched in the face repeatedly by an rear end in a top hat and oh my God, it sucked. Back in 2006, the remains of a mummified woman were found in a tent off a highway in California. It was clear she was mentally ill. In the tent were bibles, a Harry Potter book and on the outside of it, the words "No go, no eat, no drink, murder" were written with tape. There were no signs of foul play. I've read about a lot of Doe cases and what made this one stand out was the fact that there was an actual picture of her (a mugshot) instead of a reconstruction. She'd been arrested earlier that year for tweaking on the side of a road. With the woman's face out there, it seemed strange that she never was identified so I assumed that her family simply didn't give a poo poo about her.

Thankfully, I was wrong. Earlier this week, she was identified as Christine Kuhn, a 41 year old missing woman from DC. The matching DNA sample was provided by her daughter.
