Not to get too political but clearly revolutionary communism doesn't work. However, that doesn't mean that slower Democratic socialist reforms should not be the goal.

It's just that the romantic idea of overthrowing the corrupt power structure is appealing even though the reality is far from preferable.

Eh revolutionary anything is a toss up but sometimes you got to toss those dice.

There isn't anything special about Revolutionary communism which is why it's weird it gets specifically mentioned.

Well I know why it's specifically mentioned but that is because we are stuck in the 90s.

This basically every Pittsburgh DSA general meeting, come in, have a pot luck (Scott Benson always brings like 10 little caesar's pizzas), gawk that the Johnny is Good twitter guy is there, do a ice breaker, listen to a education segment, hear about all the committee updates and things they are doing (ie I'm in the social comittee so one of the big things I'm working on is getting a big meeting of all the relatively close Rust Belt DSAs to meet up at Geneva-on-the-lake for a get together by the lake and beat everyone at mini golf), and then vote for things and bylaws and all that fun stuff (most of the time this causes us to go over time and half the time we can't get the number of votes to pass things)

So yeah any of the yinzers here who live near Pittsburgh I would highly recommend joining up.

I don't think that is what people mean when they rally about the 1% and "put em against the wall lol"

No one thinks the wealthy are universally evil and deserving of death. 1% refers more to the group of disproportionately wealthy who use their wealth and influence to solidify their economic power.

Like, Its hard to not see stuff like the GOP tax bill and recognize there are a portion of ultra wealthy who are harming the greater social good for the sake of their own prosperity

FDR did the bare minimum required to keep America from collapsing.

Which was nice but not nearly enough to matter.

Still makes him better than 90% of American presidents, though that is a low bar to clear.

Spent 5 hours frantically juggling cooking the seafood gumbo, cornbread, banana cream pie (shut up, it’s neither glamorous, traditional, or complicated but I like it goddamnit), breakfast casserole, and slamming peppermint martinis. The family is now hugely stuffed, and I’m rather intoxicated, have a kitchen full of dirty dishes, a dollhouse to assemble, and a bunch of presents to wrap, preferably while downing a sizable portion of the upper-middle-shelf bourbon I bought for myself to survive the holidays. Happy holidays goons, I appreciate you miserable, argumentative jerks.
