what'll probably happen is that putin will get elected in 2018, serve out his last term, and navalny will get elected in 2022 after which the putin bureaucracy will be baked into the system and he'll have to govern within those parameters.Dreddout posted:I for one, support strawberry dude who looks like my uncle over Putin and Navalny

I mean I know the answer isn’t because they actually give a poo poo about the corruption within the Russian government but because they fear a reemergent Russian sphere of influence. I am curious though about the source of your quote.

somehow i missed this amber a'lee frost article about the left forum from 2015: https://thebaffler.com/latest/flakes-alive quote:At its best, Left Forum remains a reassuring beacon of cameraderie and ambition. In addition to seasoned journalists, organizers and academics, it usually snags a few big public intellectuals, like Noam Chomsky, David Harvey, and Angela Davis, while also peppering the bill with high-profile activists like Harry Belafonte and Michael Moore. The organizers sometimes even lure the odd political success story, most recently Kshama Sawant, Seattle City Council member and open socialist. Generally, both speakers and attendees are smart, friendly, and often quite young and good-looking (if I do say so myself). quote:One of the first report-backs I heard was on a Black Lives Matter panel, that “devolved into a polemical debate on the merits of Stalinism vs. Trotskyism (resulting in a panelist claiming that ‘taking over the army in order to wipe out the police would probably be the most feasible short-term strategy’).” Such is the quixotic single-mindedness of the live-action-role-playing Russophile.

He further stated that he very much wanted to strike the Georgian General Staff with a cruise missile. In response to criticism, in 2013 Navalny said that he regretted calling Georgians rodents but stood by everything else he said at the time. he is also on record calling one of his party members a "blackass" strawberry communist is definitely the best candidate

so holiday stories. usually every christmas at my parents' some hometown friends come over to escape from their (drunk, dysfunctional, etc.) families. friends are very, very left and are highly active in political organizing in marxist causes. i would describe dad as a "radicalized democrat" who will rant about his right-wing republican coworkers to my friends, talking about all the petty bickering watercooler arguments he has with them, but he doesn't seem to get that my friends don't share the same basic "world view" so to speak. they nod and smile politely, though. well what bothers me is that despite all of these rants and how unfair and terrible the republicans are, he never votes and doesn't do anything political... except rant, and get into pointless arguments with his co-workers about politics, with a success rate of 0% at changing anyone's mind over however many years he has been doing it. one of his co-workers, by the way, is a long-time organizer for the state republican party and goes to their conventions. an anecdote but an anecdotal example of why democrats have gotten into so much trouble.
