Anything else will be seen as deceit and abuse which will only hurt the cause. UBI let alone a socialist revolution will never be possible unless we kill white people and eat the rich, metaphorically of course.

I once knew a guy who would sell blow for EBT cards (or just give a grocery list to his...clients). After a particularly good weekend, he'd have a BBQ on Sunday. He wasn't even poor, his dad was a radiologist or something. So there's an anecdotal story about a rich white person exploiting addicts from the underclass. Big Trump supporter too.

If the point of the program is to provide food for those in need, having a cash option seems like an unnecessary temptation that could encourage poor financial decisions like picking video games over food. Why not just mark all of the money as food-only? Louisiana SNAP is all food. So is Colorado I think. You get a plastic card, usable only for cold food. Prepared meals are not buyable.

If instead you say "this money is to provide a basic quality of life" they either have to argue "I don't want to provide people a basic quality of life" or shut up.

A reliable trait of Conservatives is being much more offended by the idea someone getting something they shouldn't than they are offended about someone not getting something that person is supposed to get. It is strange.

Denying a person something instills a sense of power in the denier. Usually a righteous-feeling one. Another thing I've noticed along these lines is the ABSOLUTE insistence of conservatives that they are the "adults here, the responsible ones." Even in the face of easily provable mathematical evidence. And I don't mean politicians, I'm talking about people I've spoken with recently. e- So it is right to deny them this, these 'children' will just waste it anyway. The people who scream about food stamp misuse are the same ones who demand drug testing for welfare recipients even after being presented data that testing is a waste of resources. They're happy to spend money to target the poor, and angry at spending money to help them. So gently caress framing. You'll never convince them that food stamps by and large help the needy and have only a tiny rate of misuse.
