I might try it with my next tank. See how it goes.

I have noticed that Costco 91 (I never buy it elsewhere) does give me a extra MPG on average. But my gas tank isn't big enough to make that truly worthwhile, and the 2013 Subaru Legacy is not exactly a performance machine (it's primary use is getting me 30 miles each way to and from work while maintaining about 30 MPG highway and being decent in wet and snowy conditions).

Parent spent my trust fund, do I have legal recourse?
(self.legaladvice)
submitted 1 day ago by thr0wawayyyyyyyyy999

quote:

My grandparents passed away when I was a teen, leaving me ~1mil+ in a trust fund, with the stipulation that it be available to me when I was an adult. My mom (who in hindsight was likely pissed about being snubbed in the will) was shady about it from the beginning, despite the fact that I was 16 and old enough to be entrusted with such information to at least know exactly how much and when exactly I could have it.
Anyways, fast forward, I'm well into my 20's. I've been harassing my mom about this money for the last 5 years. Recently, I broke down in tears, explaining that I have medical bills and debt from college and going to grad school, I can't even afford a used car and I'm still living with roommates and it pisses me off that I have a million in a trust fund and....she admitted to me that she loving spent it.
And it dawned on me that my single mom who's a retired teacher has mysteriously been affording designer clothes, vacations, new high-end cars, and totally remodeled her house.

Do I have any legal recourse or am I too doomed to be bitter and snubbed?

I've seen people spend their kid's trust funds on houses for themselves since that "benefits the trustee" a few times. I don't know how you could explain clothes. Not sure if they could ever get that money back though. Maybe sue and clean out her mom?

Let's do the space-time warp again!

Yea, even if you assume you could unwind some of what happened, it would mean pressing charges for a variety of crimes on your mom and ultimately you'd have to seize whatever physical assets you could. I suppose you'd get something out of the house and cars, but no way are you getting back to a million. Which is depressing, because this is one of those situations where the person really hosed wasn't really the person making BWM choices. :smith:

Bwm was not giving the trust a disinterested trustee to administer the account, holy poo poo that was asking to be abused if you skipped a generation and told the essentially disinherited mom to look after limitless riches.

You'd have to get a million worth of schadenfreude. Bonus points if you get to choose the home they're put in.

Million bucks is hardly limitless riches anymore. That's pretty much poverty level in lots of major metropolitan areas.

On the plus side, the mom seems to have a house, cars and probably recurring pension payments. So there might be enough assets for the daughter to get some of that money back. :unsmith:

And in a best case scenario there might be enough to press criminal charges even if the trust wasting is already a few years back.
