Day three of annual inventory: I'm elbow deep in the wilds of spillproof dog water bowls. My energy drink is running low, nicotine levels depleted, and the hash-infused blueberry muffin bread I ate this morning is tightening its' grip. The paperwork is overwhelmingly abundant and riddled with errors from office employees, unfamiliar with the inherent, uncoupled nature of the warehouse location system. My future holds hours in the jungles of leather and biothane leashes, hanging precariously from racking, correcting hand counts other people breezed past, assuming quantities based on the insane ideations. One fact holds true, I did not eat enough weed this morning.

Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. He puts out maybe 2episodes a year and they’re 6 hours long but you’ll never know more about Ghengis Kahn.

I kind of like Trillbilly Workers Party, a bunch of liberal hicks making fun of the wrongness on both sides of the aisle, but they do spend about half of their time laughing at jokes and forgetting what they're talking about. A16Z is a really good techie podcast run by a VC firm that gets into the latest and greatest computer science and tech industry trends. They find really good guests working at top firms around the US. Programmers Throwdown is two super nerds with PhDs in CS/AI/ML who do hour long episodes split half between new favorite books, games, etc. and a topic of choice. The guys are both really smart and really affable, so the podcast is something of a rare find in its genre.

my family used to rent a cottage by the shore every summer for a week or two, and we didnt start bringing our pets along until they got too old to really care about running away anymore so we had Mia. She was a bitch of a cat, a super large shorthair that was mean as gently caress. She'd kill mice and leave them in my bed, which was appreciated fully. My mom boarded her once. That summer we went for two weeks, probably the last year we did so. As soon as we brought her home she ran immediately ran upstairs and poo poo in my mothers shoe. she had that same look on her face hide your jordans

I don't follow podcasts, but here's a short list of some of the best non-fiction books I've read this year. colossus: hover dam, plastic: a toxic love story, rust: the longest war, fur fortune and empire, vulgar tongues, burglars guide to the city, nathaniels nutmeg, hiding the elephant. True crime/murder central fans: read the utterly engrossing "Excellent Cadavers". e: Also here's a cheat sheet to reading good non-fiction books. If the author bio mentions being published in Salon or Slate, be wary. If the author bio mentions being published in Salon AND Slate, avoid this author, I warned you. quantumfoam fucked around with this message at 06:10 on Dec 30, 2017 |
