The barge blew up and covered everyone in smoke and kids got hyperexcited. ed: two guys were operating the fireworks from the barge so they uh, swam for it.

Not suicidal, but drat it would be a good blast!

I always find fireworks boring as hell because they light them off one at a time over 15-20 min. Firework "disasters" are always so much more interesting. Sure, plan out a routine but I'd rather the same amount of fireworks be crammed into an insane explosion that lasts 3-5 min than spread out over 15-20 and badly timed to music.

My family always did fireworks all at once because we were impatient and preferred the spectacle of an enormous clusterfuck of light and color instead of doing stuff with any kind of timing or in any kind of sequence. To this day, I still prefer fireworks shows that wind up "failing" and blowing their load all at once to ones that have intricate displays.

And they don't need air, so the 'close your mouth on the flame' party trick doesn't work.

The best one I went to was one a friend was doing and one of the big shells came back to earth before detonating. I can still picture the silhouette of him and his buddies running from ground zero as it went off like a strobe.

It seems he's clearly saying fireworks shows in general are lame and it's more fun to just set everything off at once. Granted the big ball of fire is pretty cool, but if you go to a large display done well it's never "fire one, wait, fire another, etc" for 30 minutes.

In AU we do all our firework displays from barges out on the water, can't think of a single (Sizable) show which is done in-land, just seems crazy to me idk. loving awesome. On of my cow orkers flipped a truck with one of those in Vietnam. Apparently they were taking off right near a road and they had the Vietnamese cops blocking traffic but some panel truck driver didn't care and drove right around them. He didn't make it far.
