I hope everyone has a healthy and happy 2018. It looks like my 2017 contained about 10k more income than my 2016, though this was due to a combination of a pay adjustment and a shitload of overtime put in to account for lots of people being sidelined to test a new workflow system that will make everything easier and quicker. It went live at the beginning of December and things are looking good. 2017 also saw Dr. FAUXTON get her first non-academic job, which involves making vaccines for animals. My dad technically was dead for a bit on Xmas Eve, I guess, but it didn't take. He spent 4 days in the hospital, a couple days after that needing a walker to get around, and Friday was his first day off the opioids. He has to wear an eye patch to protect one of his eyes because he still has some uneven pupil dilation, and some double vision which has been rapidly improving to the point where it's largely now just some blurring. Hopefully he gets cleared to fly up and visit Dr. FAUXTON and I in February, because he wants me to take him shopping at a local store for a new helmet. I'm probably getting a promotion at work, hooray. Been visiting Dr. FAUXTON's family in Ohio since the 22nd and in that time I've had a total of like ~3 shots of whiskey (it was two rocks glasses 1/4 filled or so) and a couple glasses of some sparkling Moscato. I'm happy to report I suffered no seeking behavior and am probably not an alcoholic like the past couple/few generations of men in my family. I even managed not to crawl into a bottle after visiting pissburgh which I will be bragging about on my drat tombstone because good god what a depressing city. It's like the kellyanne conway of cities. The Gorka's Mustang of cities. Anyway 2018 looks all right on paper but it ain't a year until that piss tape gets unveiled. Dr. FAUXTON and I plan on growing more stuff in our garden this year now that we're comfortable with the amount of growing space available to us, and I might try my hand at making some strawberry-rhubarb pie if I remember to plant the strawberries and the rhubarb grows back as well as it did this past year.
