oh well i might as well post it since it's the new year and for some reason work is really slow the group is called AWESOME RECIPES. it's a group where people post food they like but some reason they keep reposting videos from Food Network that maybe get 1-4 likes. or ask "hey when you are feeling sad and don't want to go out do you just like eat a whole jar of peanut butter" which, ok, i get that people get depressed but this post happens every single day. also why do these people love mac&cheese so much so i went in and posted this chinese duck feet noodle that was v delicious but also kinda look like a dong, lol someone demanded a cw for "cultural food" so i responded rip good food posting in the good food group. now i'm in some other group called AWFUL RECIPES where they purportedly post "bad food" but it's usually very sheltered people being scared of normal things like egg yolk, cakes, juice, rare steaks, and meat pies The Saddest Rhino has a new favorite as of 04:28 on Jan 2, 2018 |

Being a picky eater isn't a loving disability. There's nothing ableist about making fun of people who cry about food texture. Accessibility issues has become something I'm actively involved in lately and this really annoys me.

Ok, I am going to talk about ham for a bit. So, I am from the south, and growing up my grandmother would always make a ham for the family at christmas. For the glaze she would mix equal parts of coca cola and yellow mustard and slater it all over that ham, bake for ten hours and then pull it out of the oven and rip into it like pulled pork, no slicing here. It was a dark pink like corned beef and stringy as well. It was pretty drat good. I was working at a bar the last time she made it and the bar owner would trade me paid time off for freezer bags of the stuff. Woo Ham and soda story! ed Nice dark crust

Also mac and cheese is gross as all hell to people with real texture issues. The mystery flavor dum dums are lollipops made as one batch of dum dums is wrapping up and another is starting. Instead of cleaning the equipment in between batches to prevent flavors from mixing it was easier to label lollipops that'd have both flavors "mystery flavor". If you told me that no one else did that for their mystery flavors-or that everyone else did that-I wouldn't be surprised. Edit: Somehow I missed the Dave Grool's answer. Sorry about that. There are picky eaters and then there are picky eaters. I won't touch nervous systems or reproductive organs, but I'll eat just about anything else and I'm not afraid to try something I haven't eaten before. One of my uncles, on the other hand, will only eat ten or so dishes that his mother used to fix and then only if fixed by his wife because she slavishly follows the exact recipe his mom used.

Apparently they had added some sort of bitter gross flavor to make sure people don't eat it. Since people including myself want to be able to put their mouth on my skin, I returned that lotion to the store. Now I don't buy cosmetics that smell like food (actually I just buy non-scented for sensitive skin because I'm red enough as is).

I used to be a very picky eater, and now I'm down to just pineapple and celery as the two things I won't deliberately choose. And I can deal with celery as long as there's some onion in the same dish. The discovery that my parents were right and that my palette broadened out when I got older was a goddamned revelation.

My friend's brother was a super picky eater growing up, but in adulthood was discovered to be tongue tied; the connective tissue between the bottom of his tongue and lower jaw extended all the way to the tongue's tip, severely resurrecting the tongue's mobility. It's a simple procedure to fix, and the brother's palate expanded rapidly soon after treatment. Knowing about the condition they were able to catch it early in his nephew and daughter, which helped with early feeding issues. It was interesting to learn about, and the only way picky eating makes any sense to me.

lol @ asking to tag "cultural food" I don't like food that comes from cultures. I prefer like normal neutral food. you know. the food that comes from the place i grew up, where people don't have accents.
