I always have thoughts I'd like to commit to a review...but then I have to get in the car and drive home from the theater, and I've lost the drive to write a review when I get home.

I at least try to rate everything I watch(although I've been slacking since October) because I enjoy being able to look at the overall chart of my ratings and being able to sort based on that. Out of a little more than 1,500 films, I have 68 rated five stars. Just need one more for 69!

Go to "Log Again" on the movie's page and there's a checkbox for "I've watched this film before" that should take care of that for you.

You can just log it as a diary entry. It doesn't overwrite previous watches or reviews.

Because I have a compulsive writing habit and really enjoy cranking out little reviews when I can get around to it? LB also ends up serving as a diary for me since I watch so many movies.

I've committed the incredibly gauche sin of using my real name on LB. For extra fun, if for some reason you want to try to stalk a not-particularly-attractive 39 year old man, I tag all theater viewings I attend by location.

Not even the 1967 parody version. Before even that, there was a made-for-TV version in 1954 where Bond was played by Barry Nelson. Don't remember who Barry Nelson is?

^This rear end in a top hat from The Shining. This guy was the first onscreen James Bond, and he plays him entirely as an American. People straight up call him "Jimmy" and its great.

Also the villain in the movie is Peter Lorre. Casino Royale '54 may not be a great film but if fuckin' Peter Lorre's presence in a Bond movie doesn't convince you to check it out then nothing will.

Anyone find the weirdos who use reviews of unreleased movies as comment sections to be... weird?
After watching Lion, I clicked on the director's upcoming Mary Magdalene movie for no particular reason and found this bunch https://letterboxd.com/film/mary-magdalene-2018/ and through someone there, https://letterboxd.com/film/oceans-8/

I suppose there's no harm in it when they're buried after the movie comes out, but I say either make a general comments section or turn reviews for upcoming movies off.

I'm probably going to watch something tomorrow, but...

https://letterboxd.com/cbf/year/2017/

433 items watched (I don't discriminate in favor of features. Also, this leaves out a bunch of film festival watches and art shorts that weren't on LB and that I didn't feel like adding to TMDb.)
544.2 hours (A lie; I log things that I don't finish so I know not to watch them again.)
36.1 average watched per month (Biggest month: 82 in October, thanks to the Milwaukee Film Festival running then and doing the Hoop-Tober challenge.)
8.2 average per week (Biggest week: 30 from August 27 to September 2nd, but there's a bunch of shorts and incompletes in that week. 29 from October 22nd to 28th is a more legit high thanks to Hoop-Tober; a few shorts but no incompletes.)
11.2% 2017 releases
85.2% first-time watches
Top stars: David Lynch and Harry Dean Stanton, 6 films each
Top director: David Lynch, 11 films (I heard about the David Lynch fest at the Music Box in Chicago and decided to do my own budget version at home)

Sure, I was just looking at mine.
https://letterboxd.com/fancymike/year/2017/

285 films, 17% rewatches, only 23 2017 releases so far.
12 in the week of Sep 17-23. 8 total weeks with 10 or more
Saw 18 movies in a theater, half of those were 2017 releases
I watched Prince's Sign 'o' the Times 3 times this year, it still has less than 1k watches on letterboxd and everyone I think should see it, definitely one of the very best concert films.
Most obscure: Electric Apricot, didn't care for it.

Here's the categories I think give the best idea of what I watched this year -
Top stars: Lam Suet (27), Tony Leung Chiu-Wai (16), Simon Yam (13), Andy Lau (11), Gordon Lam Ka-Tung (11), Anthony Wong (10)
Directors: Johnnie To (29), John Carpenter (11), Wong Kar-wai (10), John Woo (10)

Wong Kar-wai was rewatches of all his feature films this year. Might try and squeeze in one last Johnnie To today to make the even 30. https://boxd.it/1l7EY for my ranked list of Johnnie To movies.

https://boxd.it/11rmq is my ranked list of all first time watches for the year. It got kind of long so the further down it goes the more approximate the rankings. Top five favorite first time watches of the year were:
5. Linda Linda Linda
4. A Brighter Summer Day
3. Alien
2. Irma Vep
1. Millenium Mambo

I think I made a mistake by logging all the Looney Tunes shorts I watched, but I do love 'em. Didn't log comedy specials or anything though (or Twin Peaks, which is apparently appearing on Letterboxd soon according to their twitter), and I haven't marked anything as rewatches unless I've already logged it before, so my "first time" list is entirely inaccurate. I'm real mad at myself that I didn't drag myself out of bed to go see The Shape of Water for the first film of 2018 at an advance screening today.

No Pro, so I only got the little end-of-the-year e-mail.

I went on a Haneke binge last spring, so I'm not surprised he was my top director, but I would never have guessed Song Kang-ho was my most-viewed actor.

Overall, I watched 107 movies in 2017, but I created my account in February, so that's off by a dozen or so. I generally log anything that's in the database. Looking back on my diary, I'm surprised by how manic my viewing habits are; I have some months with 30+ movies and others with zero.

77 movies for me last year. Rookie numbers, I'll try to do better in 2018. Also, my brother made me rewatch the Star Wars prequels with him in the last days of December, and it made George Lucas my most watched director last year.
