It's really great game design that they tell you you need 20 shock arrows to get on to Divine beast ruhta, but they don't tell you that you need a bunch more regular arrows, so you can just completely run out in the middle and have to reload so you can go to town and buy arrows. I'm pretty sure almost every game since the 80's knew not to do poo poo like this, but not BOTW apparently. Ran into this bullshit both times I played it.

lol, you literally need 0 arrows.

Cryonis! You had a whole tutorial dungeon about it.

In your defense, they should probably have had some ice formations in the environment for players to interact with before they leave the plateau. The "I don't have enough arrows!" thing used to come up all the time.

No way Cryosis owns. I can't pronounce it but it's great. You can use it to get across any body of water. That spiral shrine? gently caress carrying the ball over land and dealing with the enemies, just make some ice pillars and cheese the thing.

The power itself isn't bad. It's just so ridiculously under used compared to the rest of them it's easy to forget about when the game wants you to use it. Like, this is my second play through and I had no idea you could break ice that wasn't your own blocks, and I've been tripped up in shrines I've already solved because I haven't used it in hours. I guess that's kind of on me for not experimenting more, but I felt much less inclined to play around with it compared to stasis or bombs/magnets because the game doesn't really nudge you in that direction.

No I agree, but you may not have even thought about cryonis and ice pillars for 20+ hours, depending on how you play. I know someone who put the game down back at launch because they ran out of arrows at the boss (spoilers: use cryonis some more), got overwhelmed, and just never played again.

Just one more thing!
I enjoyed solving shrines though not for the reward. I just genuinely enjoyed exploring the world. I avoided combat as much as possible, admittedly because I wasn't a huge fan of it, but I liked that the game let me do that. Even if I loved everything about the combat system I would probably have avoided fighting, I'm just like that.

For me, the exploration was its own reward. I guess in a theoretical "BOTW2" what I would like is a shovel or a pickaxe to dig things up at various sites such as ruins. Rather than a reward, I'd like to find tablets or something that just have cryptic information. Maybe some of it points to something in the game world. Maybe other bits are just lore related to Hyrule's past (previous games in the series). I'd find that fun since stumbling upon a setpiece and wondering what it said about the world of the game was a huge part of the enjoyment for me.

I think they are looking for a more substantial game. That and Mario kart is kinda the same thing after 10 rounds. They want to be able to game for like 4 solid hours and chat and hang out. Is the resident evil multiplayer possible online? Cave story? I wish the Minecraft update was out.

I have a friend who bounced off of BOTW extremely hard because he found the exploration boring and he doesn't like that it doesn't tell you where to go. Like he went to every single Question Mark in Witcher 3 and he hated that in BOTW there were no question marks for him to follow. I kept trying to tell him to just go up a tower and mark stuff but he wasn't having it

Picked up Mighty Gunvolt Burst and the free DLC for playing the demo. Had meant to get also Gunvolt 2, but saw it was only bundled with Gunvolt 1, which I already have on Steam, and was way too rich for my blood at $32USD anyway.

When I did that fight for the DLC where you get limited arrows, I ended up just putting a Cryo block near him and walloped him with physicals while he's in the air. Of course, this got really difficult once he starts crapping out five ice blocks...

For you and everyone else wondering: They were going to have a multiplayer Beta to test out the build before christmas, but that's now slipped to Q1 2018. (Then patches after that's been tested + fixed.)

But thankfully ConcernedApe is also working on new content, so whenever the multiplayer patch hits, it'll do so with some extra content accessible in both singleplayer and multiplayer.

(Also all platforms except the vita will get multiplayer, no mention of any kind of crossplay, or console specific stuff like the Switch's local wireless. Though if they don't support that it would be kind of silly. )

I think the storytelling style in BotW of uncovering a legend works pretty well for a game with no enforced order. I'd just expand on that idea (I'm thinking of something like La Mulana where there's a creation myth involving the bosses).
