Especially in non presidential elections. Turnout for the 2014 ballot was 31%, and Coryn won Bexar county by 13 points. Tom Wakely is a real progressive. All I really remember about him is that he's a vet and ran a hostel. He actually tried in 2016 which is more than I can say for many democrat candidates in districts as red as 21

Nah there are way more pro lifers than gun voters. It's impossible, because one would follow the other, but in a world where abortion was never legalized, I'm not sure the GOP would have ever held a majority. If they actually ever banned abortion I think they'd lose a major portion of their voter base who would just stop turning out.
